The Saudis are trying to diversify their economy from being just oil and energy. They are making a big push in the entertainment sector, which sports are obviously part of. Golf didn't pan out, but I would venture a guess they will keep trying other venues.
reasonable reply (one of a few)

Golf is more about the sport, the event and the tradition, and not the players. It's like college football in that regard. Players come and go. The Arabs even tried to make it a political thing. Nope.
The Saudis are after 1 thing the dollar. The LIV didn’t provide that. They are moving on . This was never political IMO.

Some of the courses they chose to go. It's not that those aren't great golf courses, but it's something that can get favored treatment down the road. The owner of the course in Michigan for instance. It's not upsetting to me that the Arabs are doing this because it supports my side of things, I'm just pointing it out.

I think politics was an after thought. The Arabs have piles of money to do with what they want. About 1000 billion in dollars they say. Personally, I think the Arabs are trying to spread their influence as well as make a buck.
