there was a question about weather the NC in baseball would make 2021 a good season regardless of the other sports. This question made me realize that part of my excitement for this football season is that NC run. The supers thru the championship game was a hell of a run. I was lucky to go to Omaha for the Championship series and I still have a good buzz. I realize one sport has nothing to do with other but my "sports self esteem" is the highest it has been since 2009 when the Saints won the Super Bowl.

I would certainly sacrifice the other sports in a school year for a NC in any of the primary men's sports (football, basketball or baseball) and would even consider it for WBB. There are definitely sports (say like women's golf ) that I would never sacrifice any other sport for.

There are lots of unforgettable years with multiple sports success but they all pale in comparison to winning the championship for me. It was baseball and that is really cool.

The only thing that would top it, is to win a title in football. Not just an SEC title, the whole dang thing. We have one national championship, ONE! I would not give it up for any thing other than other than a football national title. The good thing is, we don't have to give it up, it happened. All that can be done now is add to it, you can never delete it.

I wouldn't over look it either but I'm still drunk from the NC and therefore my level excitement about the upcoming season is higher than it would be if we had **** the bed in Omaha.

Back when I was around ten years old, I can still remember the shock of opening a Super Nintendo after Christmas at my grandparents’ house, and for like the next month, I woke up every day feeling like I won the lottery as soon as I realized that it wasn’t a dream.

As you get older, it’s only natural to think that you’ll never have that child like feeling again, but our CWS title has been pretty close

Heck yeah that makes it a good sports year regardless of what happens in other sports short of some kind of life threatening catastrophe.

Well, my response was assuming I had the choice of a NC in one significant sport and the others be average or worse versus the choice of being pretty good in all but no NC. Obviously the desire would be to get a NC and still be very good in the other sports as well. And our other sports and their coaches still need to be held accountable. They don't get a pass just based on baseball winning the ultimate.

Well, if one of my kids is much, much smarter than the other i would temper my expectations. And please understand, my analogy has relevance to MSU sports

I’ll take it independently of football. CFB is horrible right now. We have zero chance of winning the SEC, much less a natty under the current NCAA rules. I’ve always been one in favor of more compensation for players, but only along-side rules that even the playing field on recruiting and other pro-competition efforts.

I do believe we’re headed that way with all the changes going on, but right now it’s just everybody collecting their consolation prizes and hush money for Bama’s NC’s.

Football creates an awareness like no other sport nationally. Baseball lit up our fan base and got a decent amount of attention.

Football is on an entirely different level. The only way is if we get really clever with the NIL stuff. Saban is scared to death of that equaling out what they pay them there. You love to see it.
