I would pitch Stone, but the Lipscomb Friday starter shut us out for 5 innings with only 3 hits before we got to him in the 6th.

I'm sure he's solid. I just think Duke is probably better and we've got lots of options if he struggles. I'd love to have TV against a #2 starter from either of the other teams.

Or it might be a good spot to start Ryan. He just honestly makes me more nervous than Duke right now.

It's nice to have pitching options, but I think the key will be to jump on their pitching early. Kill their hope quickly.

I'd go with McPherson to set up rotation order for the following weekend on normal rest. With potential weather delays it might be Monday before this regional is over. I don't want Stone as the potential game 1 starter against UGA.

McPherson is the key to a postseason run. Time to see what he's got post-injury

In the game we beat Lipscomb 26-0, Stone threw 4 perfect innings before we took him out to get others some innings. Think we won all three games of that series by at least 4-5 runs and then took their souls on Sunday.

Yeah you can’t throw Valincius in that game. I lean Stone, but McPherson would be an acceptable option too.

I forgot about that. Yeah, I think Charlie Foster was the only thing that kept us from a combined 7 inning perfect game in that one. I'll look it up.

Yup, everybody else is perfect and CF gives up a hit and a walk in his 1 inning, to absolutely no fan's surprise.

I'd give Bauer the start vs Lipscomb
Has Bauer started a game all year? I highly doubt we are about to roll him out there for his first start this late in the year.

Stone, TV and McPherson will be our 3 starters this weekend (hopefully we don’t need a 4th game). I’d imagine TV is penciled in for Saturday. Personally, I’d go stone Friday night. I don’t want to risk McPherson not being able to make it past 50 pitches and we have to burn through every bullpen arm. I’d much rather make it to Sunday with the entire bullpen available and hope McPherson makes a good but knowing I got the entire staff available.

I thought Duke pitched fine against Georgia. He essentially make a bad pitch and that was all it took for Georgia to win the game.

Stone is usually solid until he is NOT. It usually happens in 3-5 innings at 65-80 pitches. He tends to pitch himself into & out of trouble constantly, but it is possible that he can just overpower Lipscomb. I think we start Duke & plan to have a quick hook if it starts to go sideways.

Yeah no disrespect to Lipscomb but we aren’t exactly talking about Georgia or Texas A&M’s lineups on Friday.

I agree with this plan.

Truth is, outside of our other guys, Duke is probably the best starter Lipscomb has seen all year

No he has not. Just based on what I’ve observed recently and what we have available. He’s been solid against teams with way better bats than Lipscomb.

I agree he’s capable of starting. I’m sure in hindsight the coaches wish they would have inserted him in the starting rotation rather than foster when McPherson got hurt.
