I'll admit I've looked at it too. I don't think there's any real formula for getting a like. It's not like saying you like puppies will do it. I think my most-liked post was just one where I said Justin Jackson was my all-time favorite Wildcat.

I do know I'm far more likely to hand out a like if I think the post is funny then if it's informative.

I've looked at that ratio at times, and it is interesting but I've conclude not very meaningful. But you seem to be doing something right. :p
Many of us have been posting a while prior to likes etc. Hard to really compare

Who is the most (by ratio) liked poster?
A number of posters have been posting since well before there were 'likes'.

Oops, headhunter, you beat me to it by a minute. You should get a like for that.

I usually hand out a like if I agree with the post or I find it funny. Or stupid. And it's completely compulsive and arbitrary.

I do have to say every once in awhile I click on likes received and revisit old posts and threads. Some are really fun to see like re-reading the thread that followed the pass. Others make me laugh at the stupid little debates. Both make me glad I stopped lurking and made an account.

Most old-timers have a high message count from before Rivals instituted its "like" system, so there are many messages that weren't eligible for likes. But it was possible to reset the message count to 0. I think Alan Smithee, for example, has a very high ratio because he reset his messages at 0 when Rivals rolled out its changes a few years back.

The trick is to beg and pander for them. You can amass a lot of likes on the Rant Board just by agreeing with both sides in a political argument. ;)

I have another question: what are points? I have 83 of them. Why? How? And what are they good for?
I have always assumed that at some point we will be able to cash our points in for valuable prizes. By the way, if you want to boost your point total, I would be willing to sell you some of mine.

Little known fact about GlideCat. His childhood home in northeastern Tennessee straddled the Mason Dixon Line, so he grew up not knowing if he was a Yankee or a Grey Coat.

Reliable sources say that one hundred points can be redeemed for a year’s supply of skate keys and a weekend in Piscataway.

I bet I would have at least 9,000 likes by now...

I believe you can divide the known Liberals totals by 3 and multiply the known conservatives by 3 to make up the difference in relative numbers, then again multiply the conservatives by 3 for being right

I usually look at the board on my iPad. Where I place my right thumb in order to scroll down results in my frequently hitting the like button when I do not actually intend to. Therefore, sometimes some folks think I like them when I really don’t.

On the other hand, I suspect that quite a few people really like me but don’t want to admit it. It’s hard to understand.

Ouch!!! GlideCat was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and did not understand that "damn" and "yankee" were two separate words until he was a teen-ager. You can call me many things... but Yankee?!!! Them's fightin' words.

I know nothing about the likes or points system on the current board, but I do know that my number of messages posted has been reset to zero on at least three occasions since 1996-- maybe more.

Do you take it personally? Perhaps it is a bit like turning back the odometer on your car. Occasionally your total post count is reduced to either make you feel not so old or less silly that you have wasted so much time posting on message boards

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining; I'm simply noting it.

If this is my first post on Rivals, do I get a free hat?

No, but you will be allowed to purchase beverages, selectively, of course. If you wish, I will be delighted to give you a suggestion as to where to begin.
