Likely candidates?

Who are the most likely candidates to replace Jai Lucas? At one point, Jalen Rose was rumored to have been considered for a position. Is that a possiblity? Can we make a big splash to get someone with name recognition and the "cool" factor? Would Cal consider Rajon Rondo? Does he hire somone without experience simply because he has name recognition? I don't really know many up and comers in the assistant rankings. Who would you want and who do we think is most likely? This could be the most important hire of Cal's tenure and deciding factor of how long he continues to coach here.

it has to be a young energetic guy that can recruit
since ccc doesn't listen to the coaches for strategy, that part doesn't matter

Bruiser needs to go too
bring in a new group to right the ship

I feel like we have enough coaches on the staff. I think this is a great time to get a former player, not necessarily UK, but someone with college and NBA experience.

We need a younger, cool coach to replace Jai. Maybe like Rondo, Jalen Rose, or someone like them? Neither are super young, but that level of player to relate to the team.

Now that the children have weighed in, maybe some of the adults in the room would like to speak

Cal knows he has to go big with this hire. I think he throws a ton of money at someone like Jerrance Howard or goes with an NBA guy or a former big time player

I hope that is for all the ones joking about Brad Calpari, etc and not a shot at me for asking the question.
That's EXACTLY what that was. I read your question and thought, "I'd like to know more about up-and-comers, too. I'm not an expert in that arena, either." And then the idiots weighed in and it only takes a couple to derail an entire thread.

The question I have is really the same thing MJ asked... Why didn't Cal throw a bunch of money at Lucas to keep him? Either Lucas really wanted out, or Cal really wanted him gone.

I wouldn’t put it past Calipari to hire his son, but didn’t Brad just take a position elsewhere?

I’m at a loss with all this tbh

KY state law doesn't allow nepotism and technically UK coach is a state job. The only reason Brad was on staff last year was because he was an "unpaid" assistant.

I'd be all about Mark Pope but doubt he would leave a head coaching position for it.

Dejaun Wagner, milt Wagner, rondo, prince, Anderson, camby, Jalen rose, Scott Brooks, Mike Miller, Tyler ulis,

There are options. Some first time coaches sure. Some NBA assistants. But these would be options better than the retreads yes men Cal would want to bring in.

Why does Coach Flint need to go? Please let us know his deficiencies, or examples of him not fulfilling his assigned duties. TIA
what has he accomplished during his tenure?
who has he helped recruit?
the buddy system doesn't work in business & UK basketball used to be big business..not so much any more
more of a laughing stock now

To be fair, Bruiser isn't even a coach. He is the director of basketball operations so I don't think he even recruits let alone is on the court coaching. Having said that, we need someone else in that position.
