Like it or not this is a rebuilding year.

Yesterday we played a Freshman QB, 2 Freshman CB’s, a Sophomore CB, 2 sophomore WR’s, and several Fr/So on the DLine.

That’s a lot of youth on the field that hopefully will stay together and form the nucleus of an experienced winner as Juniors and Seniors.

Maybe so, but JM was handed the keys to a ZR1 corvette last year with this team.. and he ran it right into a ditch. I sure as hell don’t have confidence in him during a “rebuilding“ year.

Can always count on 31 sunshine pumping. All teams play freshmen and sophomores. And then there’s always the question of what about last year?

WTF are we rebuilding? We are playing finesse football and that doesn’t work here.

You are making excuses about freshmen, but I just saw the OL, the supposed strength of our team, get pushed around by a big 12 school. What’s the excuse for that?

You want to blame youth when we lose a conference game, it’s probably reasonable. When you lose to teams you should beat comfortably, you can’t use the youth excuse. You gotta start looking at things like culture, philosophy, and attitude. I was saying the same stuff after that ****** display of football against Louisiana and you didn’t want to hear it then, either. Only excuses.

Excuses kept Jackie here two years too long, and kept Croom here three years too long. Excuses are what we do best around here.

For me, this was by far the most disappointing thing I saw yesterday. Our OL was supposed to be the strength of this team. And they simply could not block Kansas freaking State. That’s not good.

When did Mississippi State become a program that should “comfortably beat” other Power 5 teams? I apparently missed the issue of College Football Magazine (name one) said Kansas State was like SE Louisiana or Georgia Southern or Louisiana Lafayette.

They are an upper level Big 12 program over the past 15 years or so and we are a mid-level SEC program over the last 10.

The wrong team was favored yesterday and everybody except the KSU fans and guys that get paid to analyze college football bought the SEC vs. Big 12 BS.

I guess the vett was running 5 of 8 cylinders and defense accounted for 4.

The Big 12 is comprised of one to two good football teams. Kansas State hasn't been relevant in years. We play and are usually competitive in the SEC West. We have at least six teams on our schedule more talented than Kansas State.

You were one of the morons talking about how good ULL was after that pathetic performance, too.

If you actually believe the **** you just wrote you're an idiot. Stop living in the past, and stop making excuses for poor performance.

Yeah rebuilding for the complete demolition that we'll need after next year

What exactly is your job at MSU in the athletic department? Are you Moorhead’s boot licker? Or his personal butler? You sure are toting his water

We must have different definitions of competitive. For me, to be competitive you have to win your division every now and then and at least finish 2nd every 3 years or so. In the 27 years since 1992 we have won the division once and finished 2nd twice. 3 times in 27 years is not very competitive.

Since 2009

KSU 82-49 plus 3-0 this season
MSU 79-49 plus 2-1 this season.

During that time period, they were tied for the 3rd best conference record in a big 12.

During that period we were tied for the 7th best conference record in the SEC.

Pretty sure this stats back up my statement as quoted for the most part. I used 15 years for them and 10 for us. The fair assessment would be 10 vs. 10, which I corrected.

Your Honor, the Defense Rest!

Drebin, I’m with you brother cause we pull for the same team but the Mississippi State you envision is never ever going to be a real thing.

We can’t be firing coaches two years into their regime.

That QB made the practice squad barely and last years team was no type of Corvette. I would agree the defense was but we sucked on offense like we always have. Typical State team over the last 45 years I been watching has a good defense, decent rushing game and barely any passing game and typically goes 7 and 5. Where is Emiry Ballard when you need him ??

Man, when you know, you know. So we are going to stick with the same thing for three more years because we are Mississippi State? They have a word for that: insanity.

Then we just disagree on whether or not we know. And no amount of sunshine or cloudy posts is getting a different coach this year or even next.

I agree with you that we are stuck with the guy. But it's going to be a long three years. And it's not about talent - we have plenty of it and Moorhead has done a decent job of recruiting (provided they stick after watching us lose games). It's about our philosophy and style of play. That's not going to change. And as ol' Croom once said, if you can't see it, you're blind.

For such a talent laden team we sure are playing a lot of true freshmen and redshirt freshmen. I guess that's another case of poor decision making by Moorhead and Shoop.

I’d have to say yeah. At least on the offense. Defense graduated a lot. But it’s their job to develop guys they would be the older guys this year.

We lost our development staff that got 4 star results with 2 star out of high school ratings.

Do people think "rebuilding" is an actual thing? It's a euphemism for sucking. At best it means regression to the mean (a fancy way of saying you've been overachieving in the past and this year you won't).

So yeah, we're rebuilding.

I think the talent is depleted, except in 1 or 2 positions. The cupboard is bare.

Hmm. Do you see three first-round draft picks on this roster? Do you see any first round picks on this roster?

Rebuilding means you developed a roster full of talented guys that either exhausted their eligibility or went to the draft early.

There are maybe 5 or 6 programs in all of college football that could sustain those losses plus the injuries and silly suspensions and not miss a beat. Actually 5 or 6 might even be too high. It might be 3 or 4.

Bama, Clemson, Ohio State and maybe Georgia. That’s about it.

Everybody else has to rebuild.

This is a 6-6 type year. It could of been a 7-5 type year without the suspensions. We have young players getting a lot of experience and in 2 or 3 years we have a 8/9 win team. I knew we were going to lose against K-State after ULL gashed us and I accepted it 2 weeks ago. It was honestly closer than I thought it would be. In the end we all thought Moorehead was going to be an upgrade from Mullen, but in reality he is roughly on the same level (probably a little worse). I honestly feel like he will continue to get 6 to 8 wins most seasons and I okay with that. Everyone wants us to be Alabama, it's never gonna happen. Our program is one bad coaching hire away from complete irrelevance. Even if we managed to hire the next Nick Saban they would just go somewhere else after a few seasons. We got lucky having Mullen here for so long. He was just good enough to keep us competitive, but just mediocre enough to not get scooped up by a more prestigious program. Again, I think that Moorehead will be about the same. People are acting like we were somehow way better that Kansas State and that game was a gimme. The truth is our program isn't better that K-State and that game was always going to be a close one. Again, 6-6 this year. Accept it now and save yourself lots of frustration and disappointment.

Gee I bet you loaded up when Vegas put our O/U at 8.5 and for the record you picked us 10-2 before the season.
