If Rhule doesn’t get rid of the guy, then it’s pretty clear that he’s going to put his buddies above the players, the fans, and the program. Just like Frost. Just like Callahan.
And then in the middle of all of that, there was Mike Riley who fired his best friend, Mark Banker. Over the phone. And replaced Banker with someone who was worse. Nebraska football.

Well, Mickey Joseph fired the dreadful DC after the OU game in 2022 and the defense actually did improve some. Sometimes you can't just hope the same guys that keep failing finally become great.

Great point. When a team (offense, defense, special teams) is dead, like our offense is right now. An in season change in coordinator should at least help a little. And could help quite a bit.

It starts with what is going on at practice. Take the blocking of the receivers and tight ends. They're blocking performance in space makes me think that they don't drill on any of that stuff. Makes me wonder what the hell they are doing in practice. And that's on the coordinators and/or the head coach.

it is time for the fake sell-out streak to be taken down...the only way anyone in the administration will even notice the fan-base is if that happens.

This coaching staff has proven to be so totally inept...I have come to hate the press conferences from Rhule just as much as those from Frost.

The sell out streak will continue. As long as its classified as a tax write off or business expense, there's a guy in Lincoln who will keep buying up all of the excess tickets.

Appearances have to be kept up. That's why the tunnel walk is still being played. It's the highlight of the day for any November home game. This program needs to strip away all of the perks, deal with reality, and fight their way out of it. But that will never happen.

yeah....I know that the chances of that fake streak ending is close to ZERO. They will always be able to find someone to buy them. However, it would be just as effective if there were massive amounts of empty seats in the "sold-out" game.

They don't have to even search for somebody. Tom Peed buys them up every week.

Everyone has their breaking point. Today was mine. Finally fed up with this all talk, no action, do NOTHING program.

I liked Rhule, but this is bs. You can’t beat UCLA at home with their first year coach who can barely string two sentences together? GTFO
the difference is UCLA hired legit coordinators.

For the record, the "we are becoming Minnesota" references aren't comparing team to team today. It's a generalization for a team that was once relevant a long long time ago but no longer is. Minnesota had conference and national championships way back when. But they are now generally irrelevant in college football, despite a nice little winning season and meaningless bowl here and there. Feels like the road we're headed down too.
We’re not just heading there, we ARE there. The T.O. and Devaney days are long gone. The team hasn’t won a championship since 1999 - 25 years ago! Heck, this team hasn’t even made it to a bowl game since 2016. That’s the longest active streak among current 1A teams.

We were amazingly lucky to have 2 hall of fame HCs back to back lead the team, but that’s long over.

Too much risk of getting their press credential yanked I'd guess

It is tricky...my son is a D1 Bball assistant coach at a major university and the coaches and families are like a big family. They need each other for support and it helps the wives deal with the pressure and atmosphere. It is not like working at JP Morgan when you can furlough a guy and there is no issue. That is why it comes from "above" in many cases.

and this team will continue to sink, less people buying subscriptions and will ultimately be the demise to their profession...
I have noticed that the old football alums seem less engaged. I don't feel like you here from Jay Foreman, Jason Peter, etc. It seems like the old guard have aged and alums from the last 15 years don't remember winning so much. Nebraska football is truly dying a slow death. Younger generation is not engaged with this losing team IMO.

When a head coach DOESN'T fire coordinators as soon as possible, it means he believes his players' abilities are the issue. Ruhl very well may believe Satterfield is a good to great OC, but the Husker players are not performing.

My kids who are out of the house starting their own lives have NEVER known Nebraska to be anything significant! They cannot understand why year after year I get excited for a team that let's me down and while simultaneously kicking me in the nuts... My daughter is basically engaged to a Georgia fan who's entire family is locked in to that team... She'll watch a game with them all the time but wont watch a Nebraska game...

I live in Texas and have the biggest Herbie Husker standing in my front yard, I fly that flag week after week on my house and my truck sports an N in the back window... I catch all the **** in the world for this being down here... I've stuck by this team year after year and am starting to realize I'm the fool...

This is a dose of reality and most posters here will not like it.

Just like how bad they are at understanding how far down the talent is at our program. They either don't watch national games or are ignorant to it. If you were to watch receivers at top 50 teams and compare to ours, we are so far behind, it's scary.

I think the biggest thing that is wrong with Husker football is the impatience and angst around the program. These kids feel the pressure and it brings out the worst in them, collectively. This team is still 5-4 and seemingly every realistic goal that they should have is still out there. But at this point, it doesn't seem likely. The fans have had 15 years of this crap and lost their patience two coaching staffs back. It's a tough situation and this team is not handling it well.

Side note- They need a new OC and special teams coach but that's not the biggest problem in my opinion because that's an easier fix.
I think its simpler than ppl want to admit.

You hire a proven OC like Whipple, who had no desire to work and develop ik, and you get proven results.

You hire Chinander at DC, and he has a history of bend dont break defenses, you get a bunch of up and down years of defense that gives up yards.

You hire a DC like White, who's produced some good units who get aggressive and disrupt behind the LOS, you get a defense that has some good games and even good seasons creating negative plays.

You hire an OC in Satt with no history of success. Huge history of turning the ball over. Never developed an all conference QB. Avg passing offenses that consistently rank in the 90s and 100s.....you get an offense that turns the ball over and can't generate plays in the passing game and doesn't develop the QBs.

You are, who you've proven to be.

Tight end too. 24 is a hard worker and has pretty good hands and is a pretty good blocker. But watching him run is painful. He has no wiggle, spurt, power etc. Our skill players are at the level of an old Mountain West team such as Wyoming or Colorado State.

Yank them and let the gas bags talk to empty chairs

Stop being afraid of crappy coaches who won’t be here in a few years anyway. Ask the questions that need to be asked and if they’re gonna pull your credentials so be it. I honestly don’t think they will pull anyone’s credentials at this point unless people are being over the top disrespectful. And if they do, **** it, let Rhule pontificate about the “process” to an empty room. That will look just as bad as his team’s play on the field. (Well almost as bad 😏)

Yup, only UCLA isn’t Good enough to blow anyone out. A good team would’ve ripped our buttholes inside out yesterday.
What I actually meant is the team came out flat reminded me of the Indiana game. From the opening drive, UCLA carved the Defense and then Offense went three and out. The whole teamed seemed flat against Indiana and also seemed flat against UCLA.

Oh I got what you’re saying. We came out lost and uninspired just like we did against IU. I was just pointing out that UCLA wasn’t good enough to blow us out. A good team, like IU, would’ve and did.
