thanks for your thanks..

lobbyist..I was one for a defense company....but worked across all elements of a business...people issues, taxes, Treasury....not that I was an expert in all, but I had access to experts in the company...

So here's the necessary part....it is impossible for any single individual to have a working knowledge of all the issues the Congress faces...so they are dependent on staff...so let's look at the staff of a US Representative...If you saw a group picture of them, you'd think it was the picture of a high school political club...all young, 2 maybe 3 years out of college...very little working experience and very little hands on practical knowledge of the subject area that they advise the member on....take defense for example....while there are some people issues, medical - normal things on a DoD environment - I'll focus on weapons....The key role of Congress is the authorization and appropriation of funding for weapons R&D and procurement....most of them have no idea either of how the weapon fits into military aresenals, how it's used in battle, or even the most basic - how it works....so, the lobbyist provides all the information the staff needs to make a decision...and while some think that it's a one sided conversation there are always people for it and people against it...so while the main objective is to get the votes or support of the staff and ultimately the member, you do that by providing expert information.

It's important to remember that while members like to blame lobbyists for Congressional decisions...lobbyists do not have votes...you provide information, try to get them to where you want them to go, but the final decision is the member's.

There's more to it...but this is a good start point.
Hey another history question for you: What do you think about JFK's comments on the military industrial complex prior to his untimely death?

Sharia Law is going to be sick. I honestly can't wait, it'll be the literal best.

Tbh I'm so excited to send my kids to school and they come home later that afternoon a different gender. Good for the whole fam!
Lunchtime gender surgeries are the best!! And just think, we won't have to see conservative white men anymore!!

If you have to claim it, you've lost the argument.

Remember, you want safe streets and legal immigration too. We are both in the same cult...

Dolt.
This “argument” was over the minute you were on the other side. You don’t make arguments, you regurgitate tired MAGA talking points either from your outside echo chamber or from the other MAGAts in here. You don’t stay on point, you don’t deliver a point, you make generalized hyperbolic statements, you have no empirical data or actual evidence to support the breadth of said statements. Honestly, me even acknowledging the incoherent, random diatribes you spew an “argument” is an act of kindness.

You're on my side. We both want safe streets for people to walk on and legal immigration.

You must be MAGA... lmfao...

Hey another history question for you: What do you think about JFK's comments on the military industrial complex prior to his untimely death?
you'll have to refresh my memory about JFK...I remember eisenhour making those comments..

Here's my opinion...not knowing about president's comments....defense companies are like every other...they are in business to make money..either for individual owners or shareholders.

Most of them, the large ones have hired former officer who understand the requirements/accusation systems, and because of their former service they have access to a lot of the active duty officers ..and that's throughout the force, not just the Pentagon...I have found that anyone who has been in combat understand the needs of soldiers who might face similar situations.. there is a sense of duty, honor, country inbred.

Now companies do try to convince the military to require/acquire systems that are not in the Pentagon budget...I'val already posted about the Patriot system...it was originally designed soley as an anti aircraft system, but the manufacturer devoted a way to use the same missile system, make some modifications and turn it into an anti aircraft and an anti tactical ballistic missile system...same assembly line, just modified. The Army was not interested...so the manufacturer worked within the system...executive and legislative systems to get Congressional R&D funding..the rest is history.

and there are mulitple stories about General Dynamics working the Michigan and other Congressional delegations to add funding for tanks that the army did not want...same with the A10 aircraft that the air force has been trying to kill for years.

So in a nutshell the defense industry is not a passive participant in the process.

But, if there are problems it's how the services procure systems...it's a long drawn out process, the requirements folks ask for systems with technologies that don't exist, they change the requirements (often) during the development process, the R&D process takes too long, and contracting is cumbersome with mostly cost plus or cost plus fixed fee contracts...because no company is going to "bet the company" on a fixed price contract when even the required technology has not been developed.

And don't forget, defense purchases are also social projects with requires "set asides", normally 15%, going to small business or minority owned or women owned, business.

And of course we shouldn't forget that members of Congress also play...There is an inherrent desire to protect jobs in the district/state...that a reason why really large programs seek out their supply chains in each of the 50 states.

So the military industrial complex includes a lot more elements that just the defense companies...

Hope this helps.

The ultimate foulness - liberals.

What is interesting is that even when one of their own gets murdered, they stay with the same policy positions. Witness Ryan Carson being stabbed in NYC, and Josh Kruger being shot in Philly. Both occurred just over 3 years ago.

"Hurt people hurt people." Liberals accept it.
