This is where conservatives can win me over (if they were fiscally responsible), because I do think market forces are stronger than anything. The key would be information getting to people. Information on environmental contaminants, public dangers, corporate crimes etc....

But history doesn’t illustrate a very good outcome for the public when that happens.

What is the defense sector these days? Yes, yes, I know we need a strong national defense, but it has grown into a massive industry of unparalleled proportions. That’s tax revenue redistributed to pay for salaries, contract jobs, appropriations for food and housing, medical insurance, research and development, and manufacturing on a very large scale.

I don’t think it’s nuts for people to re-examine where our revenue goes, who it benefits, and how changes to that system can positively affect the nation. It’s not a call for socialism to overthrow capitalism. It’s a call to change our focus of government influence over certain aspects of the market. Which happens now already. Especially with this President and his desire to control all business decisions and market forces to parlay electoral votes in 2020.
That's exactly why you have seen me rile against the military- industrial complex several times on this board.
You also have seen me call for a health care system that covers every American. One which could be paid for by the saving from the military- industrial complex.

Information on (for example) how organic produce is better for your health, what products cause cancer, what companies are environmentally friendly, and how choosing these products or services because they might be cheaper can cause more problems and costs for Americans.

When government has let business operate completely unfettered in the past, the economy never has done very well at all. And Americans have had serious issues with poverty, and lack of proper nutrition and healthcare.
So....brainwash people? The info is out there. It is not the role of the government to cram that down our throats.

When did that happen?

Agreed. Let’s shut it all down. I’m sure MIT, DARPA, Hopkins, etc. would love for that to happen. Do realize how much money Universities get from the Defense side in research grants etc.? Our country may have one time been manufacturing based. It has transitioned to Defense, Healthcare, and Tech. It’s what we do. And get out of your little utopia of love. That **** doesn’t exist. I don’t like people, you’ll never convince otherwise. I wouldn’t even want to live in a world without conflict. Would be so boring. People need conflict and to conquer/be conquered. It’s at our basic core.

Insanity is telling the world there is no climate change, fossil fuel burning is good for the earth, and that mercury doesn’t need to be restricted in coal burning plants.

Sit TF down.
Someone read those talking points. Good boy.

I didn’t say it had to be the role of government. It’s just imperative to get to people effectively if we are to operate a healthy market unfettered.

I am pretty sure I've never said any of those things. Nor voted for them on a platform.

I'll stand my butt up.

When do we start dumping nuclear waste into rivers? I love how you all think anyone who doesn’t subscribe to your dogma are desiring to destroy the planet. Just unhinged and unable to be taken seriously.

Ask Tran and Earth Justice. Might as well link Sierra Club and Al Gore’s blog.
There it is, ‘the links are fake’. Yes, Biff’s handpicked boy on the EPA advisory board really did say that fossil fuel consumption is good for the planet and Pruitt initiated the dismantling of the MATS standards. Don’t believe it, I honestly don’t care. It’s all over the internet, I just grabbed two easy links.
