Get the best offensive guy and the best defensive guy pay them each 4 million and they can be co head coaches.

One thing’s for dang sure... I don’t ever want to hear about a “system” guy in Starkville again. If you require perfect pieces of a puzzle in order for your masterful scheme to work, I don’t care what others say about you. You’re not a good coach, at least for a Mississippi school

I wouldn’t go that far......I’d love to have Malzahn, Fritz, Kelly, Niumatololokwhatever or even Rich Rod (in his prime).

Yeah, you’re certainly welcome to those guys if you have a high opinion of them, but I’d pass on every one with the possible exception of Malzahn. Kelly and Rich Rod have already had multiple Moorhead-like failures in their careers, Fritz has just barely kept his head above water at Tulane, and bringing the Navy scheme here would be a big gamble to say the least. There’s a reason he’s been there 11 years without anyone calling

Malzahn I’d give a shot, but Auburn’s basically averaged about 1 win more than us since he got there, and that’s just a hard pill for me to swallow considering how much more talent they recruit to the plains on an annual basis.

$8 million for 2 guys, huh? I’m sure you were kidding. In keeping with the thoughts of money, I keep seeing these posts saying things like “pay so-and-so $4-4.5 million and spend another $5 million on the coaching staff....”. I see this repeated over and over and I just wonder where all this money is coming from. More than that I wonder when we reach the point that we can no longer keep up with the blue bloods. At some point, somebody is gonna have to use a little restraint.

The trends in college football point to less people attending games these days. Some of that is because every game is televised. Some of it is due to the fact that ticket prices have priced a lot of people out of going-particularly young people. I wonder how many tickets are purchased by corporate entities. Twenty years down the road I wonder how full these stadiums are going to be if prices continue to climb at the rate they have over the past decade. I don’t know how much revenue comes from ticket sales, concessions and other money generated from people actually attending the games. It’s worrisome to think that one day we are going to look and see that just about all our revenue is going to come from the TV contracts. That’s pretty scary to me. Oh, and selling beer at the stadium is not the answer. I’m fine with beer being sold at the stadium during games. The guys who get drunk will normally be damn near drunk when they arrive at the stadium. The only detriment that I can see from selling beer in the stadium will be people constantly getting up and repeatedly going to take a piss lol. Beer sales aren’t going to add much revenue at all.

I ultimately agree but I would not totally rule it out. If we did ever go that route, I’d want our AD to ID exactly what we wanted to do, and commit everything to it. Similar what Wisconsin has done. All I’m saying with those guys above is that they run a run based offense, which we obviously should be doing.

Kinda. I am just tired of hiring unproven coordinators all the time. Except for Sherrill, we never seem to hire a proven head coach. So it would be kinda nice to eliminate that and get a great offensive coordinator and a great defensive coordinator and let them do those jobs here also. Hire a great recruiter that can do special teams also and we have a triumvirate.
