That’s all hope right now. I see no reason to expect to beat Michigan st Illinois Wisconsin or Ohio St other than hopethey will beat one ranked team at the rac if not 2.
And there was a 0% chance we would beat Purdue going into that game. The season couldn't have started worse. There was no hope. That’s all hope right now. I see no reason to expect to beat Michigan st Illinois Wisconsin or Ohio St other than hope
I’ll be honest. It will be tough to go to a NIT game. Once you eat at the NCAA table it is tough eating at the kiddie table.
You don't put any of that crap in your body.....do you?I will only go if they drop the masks and allow concessions
Never happeningnot happening....they dont take 500 schools...only scenerio is RU at maybe 17-15
Don’t know how much of an old-timer you are but I’m one too and remember NIT chants at the Barn.As an old fogey that still remembers when the NIT was relevant, I appreciate GoRutgersGo starting this thread.
We can't have have the Geo/RHJ era end like this. We really need to do as Bac says and steal a few wins with RAC magic and make a deep run into the NIT. I know for most people it means nothing, but for this Rutgers fan it would be a better alternative to the current way Geo/Ron's career at Rutgers would otherwise end.
You don't put any of that crap in your body.....do you?
What world you live in that .500 gets us NIT? No chance.Assuming Rutgers gets to .500, who might be the first round opponent?
The difference between making the NCAA and missing the NIT could come down to 2 possessions in any given year.If we don't even make the NIT, the collapse would have been catastrophic. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but it could.
Catastrophic collapse? What planet are you on? We have been disappointing from the opening game.If we don't even make the NIT, the collapse would have been catastrophic. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but it could.
I don't expect to win any of those games individually, but I expect to win at least one collectively. That’s all hope right now. I see no reason to expect to beat Michigan st Illinois Wisconsin or Ohio St other than hope
We've played like a ~bubble team since Clemson. The catastrophic collapse was at the beginning of the season.Catastrophic collapse? What planet are you on? We have been disappointing from the opening game.
I agree 100% with the highlighted items. The difference between 19-20 and 21-22 is the bench. Given the fact that Pike has used the bench in the past is, to me, it is and indictment on what Hyatt, Jones and Mag are.The NIT stuff is silly, there is literally no difference in where RU is today vs 2019-20 in terms of performance.
In 2019-20, Bryant had a 3 to win that missed, which is the same 3 that Lafayette made at the buzzer in 2021-22.
RU was 3-6 & lost 5 straight B1G games before a road game at Indiana in the middle of last season.....the doomsday stuff happened last year too.
The difference between the last 2 years and this year is Pike's refusal to integrate the bench and he has done a beyond poor job of carving out a role off the bench for Hyatt, Mag and Jones.....and he truly had no plans to play Jalen Miller, until Geo was injured and he was given no choice to do so.
The season is far from over but it looks very unlikely that the bench scoring that any normal fan would have expected Pike to play like he did in all of his other years, would be bolted to the bench.
It is one thing to not play a Souf Mensah or Matt Bullock in this early stage of a rebuild....it is coaching malpractice to not play a normal 9 player rotation, if you claim to care about defense and rebounding and maintain a level of effort...playing 5 players at the intensity level needed to shut down a high powered Iowa, is fine, if you expand the bench minutes in the next couple of games.....
Pike is going to run the starters into the ground and lose, or he will have to expand his bench and find wins.....6 players will not get it done at this level of basketball, while sitting on Mag, Hyatt and Jones.....
This is just not true. The NIT stuff is silly, there is literally no difference in where RU is today vs 2019-20 in terms of performance.

Yea, definitely worse than last year at this point. This is just not true.
Through 01/25/2020 we were #14 in Bart and at +1.3 wins above bubble
Through 01/25/2021 we were #39 in Bart and at +0.7 wins above bubble
Through 01/25/2022 we are #107 in Bart and at -2.2 wins above (below) bubble.
Our luck rating is middle of the pack. We have not been unlucky.
Our last 11 regular season games last year a bubble team was expected to win 5.7.Yea, definitely worse than last year at this point.
Also, this season we have a brutal February schedule. I can't imagine last year's Febuary was as rough.
Now that does mean more chances at Q1 wins but our struggles this year mean its less likely we can pull off those wins
A sub aboveYou don't put any of that crap in your body.....do you?
Last time we were at the NIT we were ecstatic and had been in the NCAA final four In 1976.I’ll be honest. It will be tough to go to a NIT game. Once you eat at the NCAA table it is tough eating at the kiddie table.
Bryant did not make it. Lafayette did. That happens to make a difference in the win/loss column. The NIT stuff is silly, there is literally no difference in where RU is today vs 2019-20 in terms of performance.

My career as an RU fan began my Freshman year, which was 1983. I only followed pro sports prior to that. So I've never attended a basketball game in the barn and didn't care during RU's glory days in the mid 70s. My loss but I'm sure it's a great memory for you.Don’t know how much of an old-timer you are but I’m one too and remember NIT chants at the Barn.
