no not the two running for President...but rather the creepy clowns creeping up across the country. Anyone have these 'sightings' near you? Have to think this is going to end with a clown or two getting hurt.

There is definitely some truth to it. They've been spotted in my area.

My guess is it started as a gag with someone, and others are copy-catting it, and also using it as a means to intimidate and rob people. Not far from where I live a guy spotted 5 of them getting out of a van and told them to pack sand. They proceeded to jump him. Police arrived and arrested one of them.

Yeah I wouldn't guess its some sort of coordinated thing...odd that it seems to be picking up steam in the media...which is probably fueling more copy-cats. Heard/read some schools in WV had cancelled some events because of it. I hadn't heard of many arrests...won't be long IMO until one of them attempts to scare the wrong person.

I asked a mime and he twirled a finger beside his head while making stabbing motions with his other hand. Not sure what he was implying.

The mild hysteria reminds me of the "Satanic Panic" of the late 80's with no Geraldo to hype it to the Moon. We need Dr. Phil on this one fast.

As for the clowns themselves, it's a classic ladder conspiracy. Someone does it, gets some attention, other folks hear about it, think, "That sounds like it could be fun" and you're off to the races. The thing takes on a life of it's own after that, replicating like a virus as every nimrod with a clown suit gets in on the act.

It seems to have started in N.C. during the summer and moved up and down the I-95 corridor from Florida to Maine. Now it's making it's way across the country. I've got the feeling that there's a 16 year old in N.C. thinking "Oh ****! I just wanted to scare the piss out of my annoying lil' brother and his friends. What if this comes back to bite me in the ***?"

It kind of reminds me of something that happened in Point Pleasant in 1966.

Creepy Clowns are hurting the businesses of legitimate clowns.
