Let's talk about a zone defense.

And I am not talking about Jim Boeheims Syracuse defense for 40 minutes.
I am talking about mixing it up for 3-5 minutes a half to see if that changes things when the other team seems to be scoring every time down the court. To see if it gets the other team out of their rhythm and steals us a couple of possessions.
Calipari never would do it.
Looks like Pope won't do it.
And it always seems to change things up when a team uses it against us.

I never understand how a team plays 40 minutes of the same defense without changing things up when they are going bad.
Anybody care to explain?

I was in Seattle two years ago when he started the 2nd half with a 1-3-1 zone vs. Zaga. It changed the game and allowed UK to get back in it. No idea why we didn't see much of that this past season.

Hey, this is all about the kids. They don't play zone in the NBA.

Of course, Pope's players will leave to play in the YMCA league. I play there. I'm old and tire easily. So, we play zone. A lot.

Maybe it's a good idea after all.
