Losing sucks. No doubt about it.... but you can't win them all.

I hate seeing the fan base bashing the players and Cal. Over the last 25 years, no team has won more than 3 NCAA Men's Basketball Championships. Here is the list:

  • Kentucky (3) - 1996, 1998, 2012
  • Duke (3) - 2001, 2010, 2015
  • North Carolina (3) - 2005, 2009, 2017
  • UConn (3) - 1999, 2004, 2011
  • Florida and Villanova each have two in that span
It's not easy to win this thing. We are one of the elite programs and enter most seasons with a legitimate chance to get to the big dance. What more can you ask for?

I see these "It's time for Cal to go" threads. Just ridiculous. We lost because of some missed free throws, a few dumb turnovers, and couldn't get a stop when we took the lead with under a minute to go in regulation. Now some of you want to fire Cal, rip players, and so on. Sure, let's get the next up and coming coach instead so he can recruit 3 and a couple of 4 star players. Seems like many of you weren't around for or forgot the days of "Ten loss" Tubby.

Thanks to the U of K for another year of enjoyable and almost free entertainment. At least Duke, NC, Kansas, UCLA, or Indiana is not going to win this tournament either.

See you next year

I’m not on the “Cal needs to go train”, but there is a rinse and repeat nature to all of these losses. And that is bound to get that fan base frustrated. As great as Calipari has been at UK, it hurts to look and see potential titles left on the table.

Ahh, bless our fans’ hearts. I’ll give it to them..there is no better fanbase in the world at rationalizing inexplicable losses to out-manned teams. Rupp has to be rolling over in his grave at how this fanbase has been conditioned to accept sweet 16 and elite 8 finishes as “great” seasons, simply because, “hey, we’re underachieving, but it could always be worse!” That’s such a loser’s mentality. It’s beneath Kentucky basketball.

Learn some history before you speak

Adolph Rupp won 4 National Championships in 42 years as the head coach at Kentucky. That's about one a decade. I'm pretty sure he'd get where I'm coming from.

Calipari has NOT been "great at U.K." for the very reason that there have been so many potential titles left on the table !

Since 2000, Duke has 3 championships,UNC 3, Vill 2. Hows that?

I don't count Duke's 2010 since they played with an ineligible player getting 80k in jewelry store credit; I don't count UNC's 2 since they had players taking paper classes; and they also had the NCAA nudging them to the finish line with cake-walk bracket placement and bias refs.

Nova? Meh. You'd honestly trade 20 years of mediocrity with Jay Wright for those 2 titles? NO THANKS

There have been 80 NCAA basketball tournaments (this is the 81st).

Our 8 titles = one every ten years

You just made my point there chief. A loser always points to something else to make excuses for his losses.

It’s not just about the last several seasons it’s about next season too. What do we have? We will be a weak team maybe weaker than last year. We lack strength across the board next year

The same Rupp who went to one Final Four with no titles from 1959-1972??

He took some bad Ls too my man and he was maybe the best to ever coach.

Winning titles isn't easy.

Think this is a different conversation if we find a way to make the F4 in 2017/2019 with teams that were absolutely F4 quality, or in 2018 when we got more bracket magic than any fanbase would ever dream of getting and still couldn't capitalize.

Who wouldn't bet it all that we make the Final Four in the last three years if we could go back in time and tell them about the 2017 team, or the exploding bracket of 2018, or the near 1 seed team in 2019 that got to play a 5 seed in the Elite Eight who lost a star player to an ACL two days ago?

Come on. There's a reason so many people feel like we're slipping a bit. We can't win them all, but we should have been closer at least one of the last three years, there's really no excuse for it.
