Ironically I was talking to a coworker today about how the cards needed a fast start to the game.
10 runs in the first inning! Bam

On the other side of the NL bracket, Nats draw even with the Dodgers in the 8th. Should be an exciting finish.

Grand slam for the Nats in the 10th. Three outs away from upsetting the Dodgers.

Anyone else stay up for the finish to the Nationals-Dodgers last night? I have the advantage of being in the Mountain time zone, and was glad I stuck it out. Great rally by the Nats in the 8th, followed by a grand slam in the 10th. And amazing work by their bullpen, shutting the Dodgers down for so many innings.

Cards fans have to be happy - just like that, they have home field for the NLCS.

I did stay up for that. Surprising but not shocking ending. Since the end of May, the nationals have had a better record than the Dodgers. Why don’t you go to Jansen in the 10th inning? Regardless, I am thrilled with the outcome since we get home-field advantage. However, when you are down to the final four teams, it’s going to be tough. I still think the Astros win everything. I saw them play the Cardinals earlier this summer and they are loaded from top to bottom.

Yeah Roberts is going to get clobbered for leaving Kelly in there so long. Even if you are determined to let Kelly start the 10th, the leadoff walk should have been enough to get Jansen into the game. And if that wasn't enough, Rendon's laser off the wall certainly should have been.

So Roberts ends up going to his closer after he's 4 runs down. Brilliant.

Stros/Rays tonight could be interesting. I think Stros take it with Cole on the bump but Rays are a gritty bunch with a strong bullpen.

5:00-5:30pm In Atlanta...it was the same feeling as watching Melvin Gordon run for 400, or Wiscy scoring their endless TDS on the same jet sweep play...ugh.

Dodgers get rich in the weak NL west each year. Beating up on the Giants, Rockies, Diamondbacks and Padres is like playing Triple A. Plus we can always count on Kershaw folding in the playoffs each year.

NL West was very weak this year, but I'm not sure that's a longstanding thing. The Giants did win three World Series this decade, the Rockies were in the playoffs the last two years and the Dbacks have had some decent teams recently.
