There are probably several people who post on here that make more money than Marshall's football program...

Don't need a MBA to know that getting 15 million in taxpayer welfare to only produce 700k is pretty pathetic.

That is the results you get when the best team you will play in a two year span is Purdue. Pathetic.

Hey shortgapwvu, dolemitebmf had the figures a little wrong, MooU didn't actually have a profit. The truth is after being handed the $14.5M in tax money to subsidize their ADept they LOST a half million. The figure of them finishing with $700,000 in the black was fake. Just like them getting only $7M in welfare from tax money was wrong, it was over $14M. A terrible investment of our tax money for sure.

WVU had over $4.4M in profit. That will be soon increasing, as the share of B12 money increases to 100% over the next year and a half. Of course WVU will be investing that in upgrades of facilities rather quickly. Something MU can't can't do without loans and more state welfare.

Our state legislature is so dumb, to keep investing more and more in Marshall sports, and get nothing back. Their tiny fan base gives the state nothing back in return. Just more pissing and moaning, and penis envy shouting of WVU.

I am fine with Marshall the academic institution that educates those who are there for whatever reason.

Marshall, the athletic department, spends an offensive amount of taxpayer dollars while simultaneously begging the only athletic department that is turning a profit with less for charity games AND constantly taunting the same institution..... that Marshall is a waste to the state of West Virginia.

All smack aside, what the HELL is the state government doing putting money into any athletic program? That is just stupid! That money should be used to provide seed capital to new start up companies that might actually employ some people and generate tax revenue.

No wonder this state is so F'ed up. Let Marshall figure their own issues out or die.

Seriously.

I know a couple Correctional Officers that work in WV, and they make arounf 28k a year. That is horrible for what they have to deal with.

Meanwhile, we are giving Marshall millions to accomplish nothing and entertain 14 people.

I thought that the state put the money in the general fund or education fund, and Marshall siphons it off for their welfare football program. If the state is going to keep handing Marshall a $15,000,000 welfare check, it needs to mandate that it not be wasted on Marshall football.
