Dude kinda looks and sounds rough. I didn’t realize he was 65. Looks like he’s aged 20 years since he left LSU. Kinda sad. Hope he does well at KU.

Les did less with more at LSU, and the talent will not be knocking the door down at KU like it did at LSU.

His stint at Oklahoma State was mediocre too. Saban's recruits at LSU and Mile's first good assistant coaching hires made him look like an elite coach. After Saban's guys trickled through and his best asst. coaches moved on you could see he was not an elite coach.

Miles is not Saban, but he was a pretty good coach. Ok St. had one winning season in the previous 11 years before he got there (8 wins in 1997), and Miles then took them to 4, 8, 9, and 7 wins. Granted, Gundy was on that Staff and probably helped offset some of Miles' weaknesses, but Miles was better than he gets credit for at LSU also. The 13-0 season where they eventually lost to Bama in the BCS championship was in Miles' seventh season at LSU. He definitely benefited from coming after Saban, but Saban won 8, 10, 8, 13, and 9 (granted, that was in 11 game seasons), so he wasn't inheriting the same type of machine that Saban has set up at Bama today.

He won more than Jimmy Johnson did when he was coaching at OSU. That school wasn't nearly as easy to win at before T Boone Pickens gave them all that money. That said, Kansas is a lot harder to win at than LSU or even OSU when he was there, and his best days as a coach are over. I'll be very surprised if he breaks .500 there.

Miles is not elite but he's definitely a good coach. He's a 4 on a scale of 5. He had a .500 record in 4 years at Oklahoma State, before the T-Boone money came in, and that's as good as any Mullen stretch at MSU. For the record I consider him at about the same level as Mullen.

Miles built that 2011 team on his own, and it's still a shame they are not the national champions.

They beat Oregon (fresh off a title appearance), a damn good West Virginia team, and Western Kentucky out-of-conference.

They had to beat a ranked Florida, Auburn and Mississippi State.

They had to beat Alabama (on the road) and Arkansas who were Top 3 with them at one point in the season.

They had to beat Georgia in Atlanta.

Alabama didn't have to play in Atlanta and got a mulligan after losing at home. Holeeee cheet.

All of this could have been avoided had Boise State and/or Oklahoma State not choked. Still should have played Oklahoma State in the title game IMO. It's a national championship, not an SEC West Championship.

Crap was so brutal that we got a playoff because of it.

I agree that he is pretty good, but I think LSU is capable of being on the same level as Alabama. Only in-state school and the talent alone in Louisiana, not to mention east Texas and south Mississippi. However, their fans and admin have prevented that from happening. I guess my original thought is that he did well at a place he should do well at, and that getting the talent to Kansas will be much more difficult.
