Meh. Chicken / egg thing. There was a free site for many years before there was anything to pay for.
It is a mistake to say this is all on Flood. Each player has to use his head and practice self control. Other coaches, e.g. Urban Meyer, have had many players make stupid decisions because they were immature, impulsive individuals. It is not just about respecting the coach or listening to the coach. When you are immature and have no emotional intelligence, you will do stupid things. Flood cannot create emotional intelligence in players who barely have it. Even programs with high degrees of micromanagement and discipline have these kinds of incidents.
Flood may be a mediocre coach, but it is a stretch to blame him for every idiotic player decision, although the pattern is clearly disturbing.

May not be able to blame Flood for a one off incident but one or two weeks removed from something that is being labelled a systemic problem by some. To turn around and have your team captain hat was just suspended the prior week for an incident bring shame to the program and university once again. Flood or whomever is running this program has to be too blame. They played with no discipline and they act with no discipline and that comes from the top.
I'd probably drop dead from shock if any of my 3 sisters or two daughters, he'll even my wife who is a hot blooded Italian, ever got in a fight.

We're not blaming him for every idiotic decision. It's just not a coincidence that a team that is not discipline off the the field is also picking up bad flags on the field. That comes back to the coach. Look, at some point the coach has to take the blame. And this time, the Carroo incident may be on him
These are all his recruits though. If Flood goes down for this, it's with his own, handpicked guys.
These guys didn't fall out of the sky. Flood recruited at least some of them. If you are going to trumpet to the world that your program is built on character then you have to face the music when stuff like this happens. Hopefully moving forward we can return to that but right now this team is an embarrassment off the field.

Hell, somehow Kenny Britt kept his nose clean during his time on the banks. I have to think coaching had a bit to do with that.
Thats why this whole notion that we were somehow "better" than other schools and recruited "better" kids who didn't make mistakes was all so incredibly stupid. We are not better or different than anyone else. We just had a nice run of having no issues. The object is to win football games, not have the cleanest program. You can agree or disagree, but thats the way it is. Welcome to big time football. Big time schools don't get all wadded up over stuff like this. We do because we have fans who have been gloating at every other team for years now that we were better. It is what it is. Tack on a 7th arrest and we are still among the lowest in the NCAA.
I said it last week and I will say it again. If Flood is fired, it will be because he is not a very good coach. No coach is getting fired because a player screws up. No coach ever has.

Do you guys remember what the complaint was with Schiano at Tampa and RU from a lot of the players? It's that he was strict. They were afraid they would get in trouble if they stepped out of line.

you are spot on..this post should be pinned to the top of the board. All of the bluster nonsense that was used to prop up Flood despite some shaky recruiting and on field results was useless noise. A coach is not judged on that...he is judged on wins and losses. APR is not a big deal, its nice to point to and have but it does not make up for on field performances.
Britt was a notorious breaker of "team rules" during his years at Rutgers. Kudos to Schiano for actually keeping him out of the headlines, but he was suspended a couple of times, at least once for weed (along with Anthony Davis).
I would expect my significant other and family members to behave themselves if they came to watch me play. How hard is it to not get into a fight?
I can get behind this. And then Carroo will be exonerated and we'll have a WR controversy side-by-side with our QB controversy.
And Tony Butler, Johncarlo Valentin, Jovani Haskins, Jordan Fuller, Malcolm Pridgeon, and Chinedu Odeogu all end up committing to boot, giving us a top 25 class.

Sigh... How does this help the program or the situation? I mean, really. Not that I want to know any premium content. I really couldn't care less. It's obvious there are problems going on, but we'll all find out the details soon enough anyway. It just seems like too many fans are eager to chime in with just how bad it's gonna get or how awful it is... like they all want to be the first to break the bad news.
I just wish we could all exercise the same self control we wish our players would.

While it may be true that a head coach can't supervise his players 24/7 and can't be totally responsible for what they do off the field, one might argue that bad stuff that occurs at the Hale Center challenges the very definition of "off the field", if you define "off the field" as out of the immediate control or vision of the coaching staff and athletic and university administrations.
Ha ha... Thanks, RaRa. I've been around for a looong time - since the original board, but I don't post a lot. When I do, I try to think first, and I ask the question: Can what I'm about to say help RU, hurt RU or neither? I "speak" when I have something positive or meaningful to say or have a question to ask, and I try like hell to keep from posting when I'm pissed off... like after yesterday's game. In those moments, my thoughts would definitely not be good for the program. Lol!
