Just posted due to finding it interesting how all over the board things are with Miller who is seeking a guarantee. What isn't known is he seeking a Lottery/1st Round Guarantee or a Guaranteed Contract?

Also found it hilarious how NIL has basically destroyed G-League Option which makes me happy. I'm one who thinks NBA should just return to allowing HS guys to go straight to NBA or CBB route. I can't stand the G-League option out of HS--one thing for a team to have to select and place them in Minor League-another to offer this crap as an alternative without having the teams have to make the financial commitment/contractual commitment to a player who leaves HS for this route.

One of the few things MLB got right. After HS, either you are good enough to be drafted or you can wait 2 years.
But also, why does the NCAA permit baseball players to be drafted and then choose to go to college instead, but they don't basketball. They are just protecting the NBA, certainly not the players or colleges.

Great question that I don't have an answer for. Roster size differential? Fear that bad teams would continue to make horrible mistakes? If anyone is watching the HBO Series on Lakers which is filled with nonsense but has some truth sprinkled in--they show Magic had a choice to either go with Lakers or return to school like you described.

Personally I just want to do away with the G-League route of out of HS. When you have teams who don't have to put their *** on the line to give the players legit $ and security to at least develop, then you are throwing a lot of people away-yet recruit them? Right now having Scoot Henderson as only guy signed up for G-League Ignite is a great thing to see. I like G-League as league to develop who you select and invest in, but to half *** things, then recruit guys away from college is pure BS.

Reminds me of Jaren Jackson Jr
In frame maybe. Jaren was more polished/accustomed to his size. Miller plays a lot like Terrence Jones when he was a FR at Kentucky but with a better jumper-although awkward release which NBA will change. I find it hilarious how they talked up his talent and this and that but consensus was he'd be taken mid to late 30's in 2nd round.

Another guy Cal wasted time on but at least it didn't get to the Sharpe level.
Can't say Cal wasted time on this guy at all. Kentucky didn't even recruit him until after the season concluded and many wondered why they weren't more invested. Got involved and now if he were to choose an alternative route you are one of 3 options as opposed to if he/they did nothing and guy ended up wanting to go to college reading how "Cal is out of it--he should've been all over Miller....".

Being upset is understandable. Being illogical and just whining to be whine is another thing entirely.

I don't expect him in CBB either, but just saying you do no harm by recruiting someone after the season and taking a risk here. What's the loss? You aren't missing out on anyone else....it's either add a guy who is this good or he doesn't play CBB.

Now the way the program was operating, he'd have withdrawn from Draft, UK would've then tried to reach out and he'd have selected some other option. Imagine the furor on this board if that took place? Hell if he chooses Arizona, imagine how pissed people will be and UK actually got involved. LOL

Let me ask about a Minn. player, David Roddy. In your opinion, if he pulls out of the draft will he look for another school or return to CSU?

There were rumors he was going to go to Minnesota if he didn't like his Draft Position. I talked with the HC at his former HS to schedule a game for this upcoming year and he said he had options but friend of mine pointed out he'd not entered the Portal, so he's either a Draft or return to school player I believe. The HS coach made it seem like there were other choices available. So assume he may try a "family issue matter".

MLB is a totally different animal than the NBA.
MLB understands high school players do not have the physical and mental tools to compete in a MLB season and need to spend time in the minors. The NBA is more about business now and develop later.
I agree with the OP about the G league; it needs to fail.
I once heard a NBA guy talk about how talent will get you drafted and a nice contract, but it is that 2nd contract that is so difficult to obtain. Either you produce or they always have another round of youngsters coming in every few months trying to get your spot.

The really sad thing is how all this has filtered down into the high school level. I seen where a player that signed with UL from Louisville Male has decided to skip his senior year of playing to attend a basketball prep school in Indiana.
I am sure his high school coach was counting on him for his senior year to make a run at a championship and just like in college ball where players use the portal to move around, high school kids are increasingly doing the same.
Players jump teams in travel and AAU ball as soon as they get mad about something.
That old saying about the grass being greener is not always true.

Really like him. Could see him as a power 3 at UK. He's Chuck Hayes with a jumpshot.

I don’t know squat about the kid but it seems from the talk, to his list that he doesn’t want to be in school. I believe he will sign anything he’s guaranteed however I think he could easily make that in NIL so who knows. I just think school isn’t on his radar unless he’s forced too. I would also rather a straight to pro/ 2 year minimum college deal for players. It would help those who need it and help set roster for 2 years. Plus like you said they make a financial commitment to those who go, either minor league or contract where they get drafted.

If he’s T Jones then I definitely want him. He was a stud.

I agree with you on everything I have read about this kid is he does not want to be in school. Like you i think he stays in the draft or maybe G league.

Any updates about any possible assistants to replace Jai and any news on possible transfers or recruiting since the draft camp list is out.

We have ten players for next year.

One kid ranked outside the top 125.
One kid with a history of injuries.
Two projects big men.
A stretch four and a point guard who can't stretch the court.
A tweener forward that will be forced to play out of position.

This team is going to struggle to score in the halfcourt.

The construction of this team is so random.

Ridiculous.Sisk post all these good players interested in Carolina while nothing about UK because Cal won't get off his sorry *** and even try.
North Carolina is going to bank off that championship run, I think Kentucky will atleast reach out to one of nance/Meyer/Baldwin jr if any do decide to transfer because UNC can only take one

It isn’t hard to imagine a lineup of Wallace/CJ/Reeves/Oscar with one of Toppin/Collins/Livingston at the 4 being fine in halfcourt.

How often will we see those combos?

Time. You can have all the money in the world but you will always have a tiny amount of time.

We have different imaginations. That looks like a fine half-court team to me.

Unfortunately, we will see very little of that type of combination because Wheeler will play 35 minutes a game at PG.
