Our next two weekend opponents are a definite step down, but we make up for it with some tough midweek games. Neutral site game against USM and then the Ragin Cajuns come to town for a game the following week.
One change that I look from the last few years is the shift away from the four game weekends that Cohen loved to do. Just never felt like we gained a whole lot from playing those weird four game tournaments against a random northern team and a SWAC team.
He did it early in the season for multiple reasons. It kept us from playing two midweek games like we did under Polk.
It helped the northern teams out because they could come down and face two opponents at 1 park and play 3 to 4 games.
And third, it simulated Regional play but only used 3 teams to get in 3-4 games.
All 3 of you are wrong. The 4 game tournaments were meant to get a Saturday DH for the fans. Those were wasted weekends.
1. Nope. Polk played 2-game midweeks because he always started the season a week or two after everyone else.
2. Not our job to help northern teams at our expense.
3. Not much of a simulation of regional play with low pitch counts on the starters and such weak competition.
