He hardly played this year, so it makes sense. We should be fine with Johnson, Marks and whoever we got in recruiting this year. I’ll learn their names when I see them play.

I was hoping for some good stuff from him in the Leach offense. He never played offense until his senior season then he average something absurd like 20 yards per carry. Was hoping he’d be able to do some stuff in space with the air raid, and I was pleasantly surprised by his strength. Was worried he’d just roll over if he got hit but that wasn’t the case

He was pretty clearly third in the pecking order and the two guys behind him were both younger. So I get it.

We will be fine with Marks and Johnson. They both came on strong at the end of the year and looked like they can be good players. Our last two games did a lot to boost my confidence in our ability to run the ball under Leach.

You had to figure one of the three would end up in the portal. I thought Witherspoon had tremendous upside, but it definitely seemed like Marks and Johnson were getting the bulk of the PT.

Marks will look like a different player next year

You could see him getting better in the last 4 games of the season. He came in a little under sized and a little raw. But you can see the potential there.
He was a classic case of needing a year in the weight room but having plenty of raw ability.

Could be that he doesn’t have great hands. If so, it doesn’t matter if he’s Gale Sayers in every other capacity....that’s a guaranteed scrub in this offense.

Yep, Leach and staff clearly had him pegged 3rd in the pecking order with both RBs ahead of him being younger. Given that, nobody should be surprised he is looking to transfer. I thought he looked very promising but it is what it is. I am not even sure if he had a P5 offer besides us coming out of HS even with all of his ridiculous stats. Neither AL or Aub were interested.

It’s completely fine for that to be your belief, but there is no stat in existence that would indicate that Marks was easily the best collegiate back of the 3. At the least, it absolutely is debatable at this point

Of all of the games I saw in person, Marks looked to be the easiest to tackle of the 3... that’s what’s I am basing my opinion on.... Dicenzo Miller probably ran near a 5 second 40 Yard dash, but dude was always hard to tackle and could catch the ball out of the backfield.

I don’t see how he played enough compared to the others to form much of an opinion.
