I've watched both. It seems to me that bron is a great player with a Roman God like physique... That could never make Pippen into a hall of fame player. Despite, Lebrons size and bulk, I think MJ would beat him with his resolve in a physical contest. Skill goes to his airness all day.

Have you ever seen Bron Bron go all-out 1 on 1 defense?

Lebron. Lebron's played in at least TWENTY PLAYOFF SERIES where he is led his team in points scored, rebounding, and assists. Jordan only did that once.

Lebron may beat Kareem's all time scoring record AND end up top 5 all time in assists

Jordan was the best ever until Lebron. Jordan was and is the bigger brand. He went 6-0 in the NBA finals and probably played in the tougher era.

Wilt Chamberlain's career was amazing as well. Though people like to discount it because he apparently was a foot taller than every one. The guy averaged more than 50 points a game one season and they didn't have a 3 point line back then. I'm sure the players weren't as athletic back then, but Wilt was a stud athlete and a pro in 3 different sports.

It's not really fair for either player because LeBron hasn't finished his career yet. If LeBron has 3 more years of playing at an elite level then another 3 years of declining play but still good production and in that time period he gets 2 more titles, there will be little doubt who the two greatest players in NBA history are.

Now who's number 1 or 2 will still be debated but LeBron will get more respect as an all time great as time goes on.

If you were a Husker fan this would be easier, think of Josey Jewell. All figuratively of course, he is slow, comparatively weak and not quick, but he destroyed plays all day long. Now magnify that to Jordan. He was a large guard, but not built like LeBron. LeBron would be one of the best players in any league. I don't think Jordan would be great at any other sport, but basketball is in his blood.

It's instinct to him, LeBron has to think.

Michael would make LeBron cry in two minutes.

LeBron is the most physically gifted player ever. Yet he will likely finish his career with only 3 championships.

Jordan competitiveness was unmatched. He absolutely hated losing, even more than he loved winning. LeBron just doesn't have the same mentality.

Jordan was a much better defender. At this point, LeBron has played 70 more regular season games than Jordan and Jordan has 650 more steals and 5 more blocks. LeBron is a much better physical athlete. One of the greatest freaks of our time. But Jordan was a better defender and a better FT shooter, a better ball handler, better off the ball, and a better shooter.

LeBron is a better rebounder and better passer.

Jordan isbthe better basketball player.

Interesting question. I think a better comparison though is between Wilt and LeBron. Both were the dominating players in their day yet couldn't find a way to win consistently. In big games, Wilt had to deal with Boston and Bill Russell and simply couldn't get it done even putting up LeBron-like numbers while losing? Sound familiar?

Give me MJ.

But LeBron is definitely top 5 all time. Maybe even 2.

Jordan was such a great scorer that his other skills were overlooked. His passing skills were impeccable.

JORDAN and anyone who thinks differently is crazy.

Jordan took 2 years off in his prime and played 3 years of college ball. Add those 5 years to his NBA stats and it's not even close to whose better stat wise.

Jordan didn't need to go to a super team to win his first two titles, he made his own super teams.

Jordan has 6 NBA titles, 2 Golds, and 1 NCAA nation championship vs Lebron has 3 NBA titels, & 2 Golds... More is better. That's just simple math.

Jordan was a much better teammate. Would MJ have pouted like a little girl when JR Smith messed up? No, he'd have probably been pissed but no doubt would have kept his head in the game and made sure JR did. That game was still winnable at that point. But James acted like a little kid who wouldn't let it go or TRY to pick up his teammate. You can point to his assists or whatever, but the fact is, there's a reason Kyrie wanted the hell out and it wasn't because he was living in Cleveland. Pipen never tried to leave Chi-town because of Jordan.

Honestly, James vs Magic would be a good match-up. And I'd take Magic.

IMO I'd take Shaq over James. I'd win more titles with Shaq then James that's for sure. I'm not sure James makes my starting 5 of all time. And I think over time, after he retires, people will look back at his career and won't bring his name up as the greatest of all time.

I’d have to draw the line when someone brings up Shaq. Most over rated player if there ever was one, could only dunk and rebound and shove people out of his way.

No shooting skills what so ever...

Without comparing the leagues they each played in, its not a fair comparison. The league today is much more full of offensive and defensive talent than the league Michael played in, and that has something to do with it. I'm not claiming Michael's NBA was void of talent, but there are MANY more skilled and athletic players in the league today than there were back then.

Do I need more than that from a big man to dominate ?

big man wants
score - check
rebound - check
play physical down low- check
block shots - check

Sorry, What am I missing?

Lol. Lebron would be in tears if he had to play the bad boys. Lebron is huge, no doubt, but he wouldn't survive if someone took a shot at him multiple times a game. His feels would be really hurt as well.
The thing is, the game is more physical than it used to be, but they have been able to remove the cheap plays. People talk all the time about how the game is not as physical as it was back then, but what they mean is that the flagrant fouling that is not allowed today was not punished then as it is today. There is a big difference between cheap shots and physical play. I don't want cheap shots in the game of basketball.

Today's game has plenty of physicality, even as it has evolved from a game centered around post play to a more guard-centric, shooters league.

Disagree.
The basketball is worse, much worse.

Nearly impossible to compare, both incredible, both covered very differently due to their eras. MJ wasn't even the first pick, Lebron was on the cover of Sports Illustrated as a high school junior and somehow not only lived up to but exceeded the hype. Imagine the coverage today if Lebron left in his prime to be a terrible AA baseball player. There's only one team that won more games in a season than Jordan's Bulls and Lebron beat that team in the finals. Also this myth that MJ was a better shooter is wrong. Lebron has a better career fg% and 3pt% as well as effective fg%. I guess if all you consider is free throws then he was.

Shaq was a more dominant force than either Michael or Lebron. I imagine Wilt was something similar before I was born. I think Kareem also has some merit as the best but you won't hear about it because he doesn't have any shoes to sell your kids.
