Leach Kicking Tryouts

I know one of the guys today that tried out for kicker. Said there was around 40 guys at the tryout. They went through the drills and it came down to 3. Coach said 1, 3, or none could make it and will get back to them within the next few days.

Back when Leach had a radio show on SiriusXM, Frank Beamer was considering adding a female kicker to his roster at Virginia Tech.

Leach said knowing Beamer it wasn't some publicity stunt and it would be irresponsible of him NOT to put her on the team if she's the best candidate... so Leach was actually open to this idea back in 2012.

my take away....34 people and only one made all 4 kicks under 40. Ouch.

I'm actually surprised we have 4 people on campus who could make 4. Anybody who thinks kicking a FG is easy, especially farther than 25 yards, I encourage them to run go try.

My take away... if she was our kicker, we would have beaten Arkansas and at the very least put LSU into overtime.

I think Tucker Day is on scholarship. I remember it kind of being a big deal that Mullen offered one to a Punter. I want to say he offered a kicker too, but maybe that the kicker ended up elsewhere.

To me, not having a scholarship kicker and punter is akin to a PGA pro playing without a putter in the bag and making due with a 3 iron or a utility club.
