IHL just voted and they are requiring all university employees to get the vaccine. Not to start a political **** show but this could get ugly fast.

I saw it come up around Auburn too. Hopefully he's vaccinated.
It would be so fitting for Leach to bring everyone back on board to him and win this weekend and then get fired for not getting vax'd lol. We are so 17'd.

Yeah. Auburn and the University of Alabama.

It's not a state government thing-- it's POTUS's mandate as it applies to federal contractors.

So if an athlete or graduate assistant accepts a 'stipend' from the university, does that make them an employee?

If it's a federal mandate, why did the IHL need to vote on it? That's a legit question.

I think with him it’s truly a coin flip whether he’s gotten it or not. If he’ll get fired if he doesn’t, I think he’ll probably do it and keep his salary. His daughter is a doctor so my hope is she’s talked him into it

I bet he is already vaxxed. He doesn't think its anyone else's business but his whether he is or not. Im not vaxxed but if its get it or get fired I will probly get it. For sure for 5 million+ a year. I hate looking for a job and I can't afford to retire.

Leach traveled to Europe this past summer..............

if a vaccine was required for European travel, you have your answer: he has been vaccinated.

I know of a number of people that prior to now I would have considered reasonable people, who are quitting all kinds of things because of proof of vaccine. To your point, these college coaches mostly don't need the money, so they have a lot of flexibility in what they will/won't adhere to.

The problem with this whole deal is the wording. They say mandate but in actuality it’s not. For this to become law it has to go through a lengthy and red tape process and it hasn’t. It’s actually unconstitutional at this point. Cases are dropping at a big rate and there are thousands upon thousands of people cramped up against each other in stadiums across the country every weekend but by dang they are going to keep pushing this crap down everyone’s throat!! My daughter said that at her school (she’s in the 11th grade) that it’s almost like the covid was never even there. No cases,no masks, etc.

The vote offered clarity to the standing of institutions that receive federal funding outside normal employer situaitons.
IE, you take federal funds you get the shot.

I don't believe this one second.
The mandate is real. Your daughters school (probably Jackson Prep or some other similar place) is lying. They are not testing, people are coming to school sick, cause parents refuse to understand the issue. Head in the sand. Trust me, covid has been there. If you don't test for it, doesn't mean it wasnt there.

Why are people so contrite about this? Get the damn vaccine.

Rubber stamp approval most likely as everything must have a process and be documented that the universities are following federal guidance.

For example, Auburn modified their vaccine policy and there had to have been a meeting to ratify it.

Here's a link to Auburn's press release mentioning it: here & link to their current policy: here.

Because the Feds can't mandate it directly. All they can do is threaten to withhold grants to institutions that don't adopt a vaccine mandate. I think it's highly questionable whether they would actually be able to do that, but the IHL apparently is taking the "safe" route.

I remember when I almost went to State, but they wanted me to get booster shots before they'd let me enroll...no, wait, I DID get those shots to attend State. Wild. You mean that this isn't the first time in history that people wanted some reasonable assurance that you weren't carrying around some preventable disease before gathering en masse? Crazy...

Pretty damn dumb mandating something like this. Does this mean everyone will have to get 2-3 shots a year because that’s the trend? The trial continues

But this is a totally different situation because people took firm, public stances on social media about the COVID vaccine early on, and it’d be embarrassing to backtrack and then have people from high school think less of you when you bump into them at Buffalo Wild Wings

Ol Horshack shows up in every vaccine thread like clockwork because he loves telling everyone the vaccines are great. Next you will be telling everyone with toddlers to get Moderna. Go ahead yall it’s safe. It’s no big deal. Tell that the injured brah.

Imagine getting to choose whether you put something in your body or not. What a novel idea.

And I don't know when you went to State but I can promise you there were MANY, MANY people carrying around preventable diseases.

The US Supreme Court ruled in 1911 that it was within the US Constitution for governments to mandate vaccinations.

The point is that no one outside of the Athletic Department, The SEC or NCAA needs to know the vaccination status of MSU Coaches or Players, especially a journalist who is probably not qualified to teach 6th grade English.

You know who else thinks they are great. My Aunt who had Polio and had to endure many painful surgeries as a child growing up because of it. Salk's vaccine would come out the next year.

It's really a prophylactic like the regular flu shot. Actual vaccines don't require boosters do they? Do other vaccines allow the vaxinated person to carry and spread the disease and also actually become infected at a fairly high rate? Do they require annual boosters?

Fact is this a is a preventative shot for covid. It's highly effective but it's not a vaccine. I had covid and I had the two dose shots, but I'll be damned if I get a booster.

I'm all for other people getting as many boosters as they want to feel safe, but forcing this on the masses is not the way to go about it. It's a coronavirus. No vaccine has ever existed for a corona virus I'm aware of.

It's more of complete bewilderment that otherwise intelligent people are suddenly afraid of modern medicine. I literally (calling Literally Police) can't wrap my mind around it. And it's incredibly sad because people who can't articulate exactly what freedoms are being stripped from them, are convinced that it is happening, even unto death.

Ones with proven vaccines MMR and DPT I remember for sure. I know that I didn't have to articulate that; at least I hope so, but since you wanted to wide brush my "preventable" statement in an attempt to make an unreasonable point...

Unless it was different during the summer, a vaccine is not required to travel to Europe so it may not tell us anything.
