Worst team around the rim in history
Watch a Wisconsin or Nebraska game sometime. Rutgers needs to work on layups, to be sure, but we're nowhere the worst team in the B1G, let alone the nation.
Scoring around the rim has nothing to do with it.

This team looks lost defensively right now.
I wouldn't say the layup issues had "nothing to do with" getting behind early but you are absolutely correct that a defensive meltdown in the 1st half was a much bigger reason for the loss.

Yes, “nothing to do with it” was certainly an exaggeration.

My main point is that this team is built with a defensive mindset and that’s our priority. So us looking lost defensively had a far larger impact considering it’s our main focus/specialty.

I don’t know, tired legs I guess?

Did Mag commit a brutal crime against your family or something? Give it a rest. Maybe spend some time on your other pastime: extolling the virtutes of bad to mediocre teams from weak conferences.
Yeah, weird comment. When Mag actually gets a shot off in the paint - layup or other - he shoots at a very high percentage.

Getting to the rim in the first place outside of put backs is another story. His handle is a work in progress to put it nicely. His outside shooting is a concern. The small sample size argument gets weaker with every game that he fails to make shots and Iowa knew it in the way they defended.

This is technically true (obviously) but it's still quite strong. He's only taken 43 three pointers in his entire career, making 9 of them (20.9%).

Assuming independent trials, this (or worse) would happen to a true:

30% shooter roughly 12.7% of the time
33% shooter roughly 6.0% of the time

That's not great, but there's also the fact that Pike continues to allow him to take them which should indicate he at least believes he can be a serviceable three point shooter. I think by far the most likely reality is that Mag is not a good outside shooter, but that he is far better than the ~20% he's shown so far.

Lighten up! See a lot of Hyatt bashing and lots of hypocrisy on this board including your self. Can’t stand criticism of lots of your stuff that is just wrong. BTW Title of this string was layups part IV. Take your misguided anger and hypocrisy somewhere else.
