The reason UCLA wasn't because of the white boys. It was because Ball couldn't defend Fox. It's that simple. The guy Ball was assigned to guard scored 39. Nothing more needs to be said.

TJ Leaf had 17 pts and 7 rebounds, to lead the team in both categories. Alford scored 13 pts. Welsh was in foul trouble but finished with 9 pts and 7 rebounds. Those 3 scored 39 of the team's 75 points, which is over half the team total. The other player who had a good game was Hamilton with 17 pts.

Ball is the one who failed in this game more than anyone else. He had a good number of assists with 8 but he also had 4 Turnovers. His 10 points were nearly 5 points below his average. And the biggest thing was his inability to defend Fox.

We never started 3 white kids in 98, but 3 made a huge impact on that title run. Jeff Sheppard and Scott Padgett were starters and Cameron Mills off the bench.
