Anyone know what Jerry Rice’s offer list looked like?
EDITED: Sounds like he had a hell of a list of schools that "contacted" him (according to Wiki - perhaps a family member wrote it) but only one offer from Miss Valley St.

"Rice received over 40 contacts from NCAA Division I-A schools; his preference was to attend Mississippi State University, but they did not offer him an athletic scholarship. He was drawn to Mississippi Valley State, in part because the school's coach, Archie Cooley, ran a pass-heavy offense—enough that Cooley was nicknamed "The Gunslinger." After Cooley watched Rice play in person and after he visited the school's campus, Rice committed to playing at Mississippi Valley State."

But can you imagine the uproar here if he signed elsewhere and has ANY kind of success? You guys would crucify Rhule for not offering the legacy.
Rhule barely recruited the state of Nebraska this year. We have kids going to Iowa, Alabama, Penn State, Northwestern, etc.

Great logic as usual by one of our fellow Rhule apologists.

By that rationale, Rhule should always sign every legacy no matter what, right?
I don't know if he's a Rhule apologist or not, but I took it as more of an observation that Rhule is screwed no matter what he does. Take the kid: you're a moron he's a 3-star. Don't take the kid: Look how awesome he is at Northwest Middleofnowhere State!

While true, it is because Rhule is a lame coach. If he was winning games, no one would care.

I’m not happy with the way the season ended. But we have been to 2 consecutive bowls and the players on the team still believe in Rhule. Even after Raiola left the only real defection was Keona Davis and he almost jumped ship the year before. When the players bail on Rhule, I’ll join the rest of you in making fun of his hats and the audacity of attending the Kentucky Derby without consulting the Council of Boomers at On3. I know a lot of you would like nothing more than a 4-8 season so you can crow about being right about Rhule but I’m looking forward to seeing how we can do this year after having one of the youngest teams in football last year and an entire class of 23-25 year olds have graduated out of football. And an actual OL coach and QB that isn’t a statue.

not me.. I think we are going to win a lot of games this year, but I still want him gone. Success in spite of his dumb mistakes and massive contract, and you're right, for many, they will want to give him a new pass/reset. We are just biding time because of his contract. Do not forget that people.

Just because they went somewhere else doesn’t mean he didn’t recruit them

A good pickup. A 24' long jumper at 6' 3"? Dad played in the NFL? Sign him up.

I could not care less about who else offered. Classes fill out so early these days that there is rarely space for a late bloomer. That's one reason why so many high draft picks started out at small schools before transferring up.

Only issue is now we‘ll have 18 receivers on scholarship.
Do we really need that many ?

I wouldn't think so.

I think our receiving core is in a perpetual state of sameness. Some guys get more hype and lots more practice reps, but I would bet that our 2nd & 3rd teamers would be just as good as the starters. Pretty much all of them have done some decent things. But none of them have been standouts and none of them have been getting drafted. So if we rank our WRs on the bell curve we've just got a bunch of average guys in the middle. No elite players, but none of the bench players are awful either.
