I saw something today about Bloomfield being the last undefeated VB team in the state. A quick examination of their schedule probably will tell you why they are undefeated. Their schedule is atrocious. If you look at the win percentage of opponents for most of the top teams in D1, the rest of the group hovers around 46 to 55%.

The win percentage of Bloomfield opponents is below 40%. This group might be good enough to win in the postseason, but they sure haven't done anything to test themselves this season.

Schedule below:

Yuuuuup. Their situation was very similar last year in basketball as well. They faced one division 1 opponent up until the state tournament.

When a school knows they have a group as talented as the Bloomfield Girls right now, they really need to load up a schedule for the years that they are dominant. Can always go back to a schedule like they have currently. Isn't going to do them any favors when they get into postseason play.

I agree. They looked lost and stunned in the final last year for basketball because they never put themselves in positions of adversity or being uncomfortable. Seems like poor scheduling on their part not to do more to make this group as good as it can be. They have some special talent right now, but they don't play a schedule that benefits them at all.

They have added some extra tests for basketball (Malcolm and Amherst).

Two things can be true...the girls are good and they haven't played a lot of good teams (outside of St. Mary's and Wynot). I guess we will see how they do in the postseason.

Jesus beat Wynot by 9 in the regular season and beat Sutton by 6 in the semis. They lost to Howells by 3 . They were in a few close games and had to face adversity a couple of times. Some of you on here are complete idiots.

I get 18-10 is not a great record but i think wynot repeats as D2 champs. They can run out 4 roughly 6 foot girls along with 2 good setters thats gonna be tough for anyone in D2 to match up with. That stewart girl that transfered in from cedar might be the most versatile player in all of class D too.

Unfortunate that homer is down after being a strong team these last few years, NV is down from what they have been. Crofton has completely bottomed out. If winside could keep their girls grom transfering to stanton and norfolk catholic they would be one of the best teams in D1. Even in sib districts tri county northeast is way down from the strong team they had last year.

Unless your an established every year power like a wynot or eppj or st marys i dont think getting into these bigger triangulars and tournaments is as easy as you think because theres no benefit to the bigger schools to play you.

Wynot always seems to play a hard schedule for their class. It has to be an advantage come post season play. Those two sisters from Bloomfield are great athletes so it will be nice to see how they do against some better teams in basketball.

Winside needs to just call it a day and close up. Let the kids go to Stanton, Norfolk High, Catholic, Wayne or Randolph.

A lot of pride in Winside....and their enrollment has been trending slightly up as of late. D1 this year in hoops instead of D2.
