Lol. Wish some “people” would watch this so they understand players don’t need to be paid

I'm all for people getting paid market value for whatever it is they do and I have no issue with someone getting above market value if someone else is willing to pay it. But I have a hard time wrapping my mind around it when it comes to college athletics because of the whole competitive balance issue, to the extent that really exists today.

But you raise a very good argument against. Granted the stipends aren't related to a market price, but the Jay Bilases of the world would make you think these kids are starving to death when we all know that they are not. Last Chance U gives insight to the vast difference in the resources available to JUCO athletes and D1 players. From meals to training to academic counseling to travel. Things that provide real value that the "pay 'em" crowd would never acknowledge.

And perhaps the most valuable component of the big-time college athletic experience is the cultural change that it can provide to these kids who would have little to no shot out of a vicious circle of life many of us can't relate to. Its hard to put a price on that but documentaries like Last Chance U give you a really good idea of the background that so many of these athletes come from. And that provides insight on the incredible opportunity that college sports provides.

I'm with you. That coach is worthless. In the locker room halftime of the loss, he is in there yelling "someone needs to figure out what to do."

I was so wanting to grab that sack of "pure testosterone" by the ear and yell that's your job you stupid SOB. I was cracking up thinking he had already done everything he knew how to do. I mean he already called everyone in the locker room a motherf*!#er what more do you want from him.

I like the show, they just produce it to seem so depressing, with that sad music. I bet they had more good times than bad.

For sure man, it’s better for ratings showing what they show. JB may be a raving lunatic, but I guarantee he is much more positive and encouraging than they showed.

I disagree like hell with this.

If taking a cussing entitles you to money, my parents and several former employers owe me millions.

Brown is a piece of ****, but man, I see why they QB Coach is working for free and the guys won’t listen to him. He had Henry doing lunges for punishment, said out loud that he was doing them wrong, but kept letting him be lazy and do them wrong. That’s why that turd acts like an entitled turd, they let his *** get away with it.

The QB coach was a true beta.

Anybody who wear’s their Ray Ban clubmasters at 5:15 am practice is just here for the cameras.

Also, for all of the yelling and screaming he does I don’t think brown is really that negative to his players. Yeah he went off on Texas Tech dude but that was justified. But a lot of time it’s just feels over the top for the sake of being over the top. Also, I’m sure that some of the lack of preparation stuff is editing magic to position Malik vs. coaches.

Dude was sitting in a hot tub smoking a cigar and flat out said I should have watched film since I’m the one who game plans but I haven’t. Unless they edited that sentence together he clearly is unprepared. Don’t forget he also told his team they can’t beat you only to get beat 70-21.

So far into the show, this guy was in no way prepared to be a head coach. He is the juco version of Ed Orgeron.

Did he not go 9-2 and win their conference and first bowl in school history in only his 2nd season?

That seems pretty good to me.

He started out at Holmes - notice the Dogs t-shirt. Stayed for a few days and as he says on the show, "didn't finish high school and didn't have his GED" ...so he left for Kansas.

What I meant by my post was that both he and Orgeron are known for their recruiting (at least bringing in troubled talent), not their coaching.

Not one of us would get our primary compensation in anything other than cash. It's foolish to think they are living this great life of luxury and using that to justify not paying them what they're actually worth or giving them a share of what they earn for the schools. $800 or whatever the number is per month to live with 3 other dudes, risk your body and essentially be working at every waking hour for 4 or 5 years is not something any of us would do in any other field outside of sports.

That is an ignorant statement. Many fields have unpaid internships. They would love to get 800 a month plus all expenses paid.
