Yeah Hawkins was never good at Colorado - didn't really have anything to do with assistants or coordinators.

Might be thinking of Mike McIntyre, who had some success at Colorado with Jim Leavitt as defensive coordinator. His teams pretty much tanked after Leavitt left.
