Doesn't get to play much being Oscar's sub but it seems like he's found another gear lately. Shout out to Lance.
Really liked the interview where it was mentioned that he knows he's a 4 yr player too. Helps accept a role and thrive in it as you develop into a good program player. Really positive mins tonight and strong finishes in traffic and at rim while letting Oscar rest and avoid the cheap fouls he usually gets when tired.

Let's state it for what it is....he for sure beat out Collins and to a degree Hopkins for backup Oscar time.

- Ware would get pushed around like a rag doll last year....but for some reason he appears to stronger (even though I swear he looks like he may have dropped some pounds).
- But his big thing....he's got quick feet for a 5. He can guard those pick and rolls probably better than Oscar.....he is quick to the ball/rebound...which is great to see.

Kudos to kid to keep playing hard.

Dude has really figured it out. Super happy for the kid and proud of the work he's put in.

He's a force on defense. He rebounds. He's finishing the plays he needs to finish. I think going against Oscar in practice all season has made him worlds better. He'll be playing a lot for us next season.

He keeps getting better. If he is wise enough to stay for four years he will really be good

As I’ve stated before, at this point in his young career Ware is limited offensively. But, no one can question his effort, intensity, toughness, and attitude. Plus, he has improved offensively and I have to think that will continue with more playing time in his future. I love scrappy players willing to do the dirty work.
This right here and with Oscar being able to be spelled for long stretches by Ware it only helps this team become stronger!

Turns out we might have a pretty sound core next year. Still early as some of these guys could continue to improve and possibly get drafted but:

Collins
Brooks
Hopkins
Ware
Toppin
Frederick
Wheeler
Doubtful Wheeler comes back. And then you also have the transfer option for guys like Collins and Hopkins but hopefully they stick around.

Yeah I thought about Wheeler as 50/50. A transfer will probably happen, but that likely means a big time recruit coming in. And I think after this year, Cal's recruiting might take off.

But 3 or 4 of those guys should be back.

Ware continues to get better. He will be that much better next year. Believe he will get the extra COVID year. Could be a huge contributor as a 5th year senior.

Great point . I’m sure after going against Oscar everyday ,every opponents center seems “soft” .

I have always like Ware and Toppin for one reason.
They have some dog in them. They can develop basketball skills over time. But you can't coach or teach that fight in a player. You have it or you don't. And Ware has it.

I hope so. I think we are missing “a guy” right now for next year. I think we have a really good class but are lacking the one that can take over. Sharpe was supposed to be that guy but looks like it may have to either be a transfer, surprise commit, or the least likely a surprise returnee.

love how he still brings a big intimidator role with his PT -

Kentucky kind of reminds me of some of the powerhouse 80s Big East teams
