Until he plays like he’s not frightened on the court he can’t play, I agree 100%.
I heard 750k pre season from some shows that talked recruiting and stuff. Word on the street stuff when talking about our roster cost.
Only time Paul posts is if he believes someone disparaged The Most High Mark Pope.
I never said he hasn't. It would be safe to assume all coaches make some promises that may or may not be kept. I was saying I have serious doubts whether you or Lou have any knowledge about what promises may or may not have been made by Pope.

People know Trent’s family. It’s not a stretch to think someone has good information. Hell, the amount of NIL he was paid (and I know it’s $500k or greater) would seem to imply that Trent was going to get good minutes.
This is false. What is true is that the only time you post is to disparage Mark Pope. I see what you are doing below and though it would be easy enough to play the same game I'm not wasting my time with it. Don't think this means I will back off challenging whiney attacks or biased made up information on anyone if they are patently unfair though.

Look deeply at the rankings and you can tell it wasn't likely to be a solid team. Maybe an ok team but never a final four type roster or more importantly a 4 seed or better year. Sometimes it takes a little luck to make a final four but we should always be a top 15 program which would net us a 4 seed.
Then you see the rosters Michigan and others put together for less money all through the portal and then you start to understand what we could have been. Not to mention the whiffs on the star freshman.
Right after his visit to Kentucky & the Keeneland thing, the Indiana coach (Devries) flew to Arkansas the next day for an in home visit with Wilkerson, the way I understand it, Devries hired the high school coach of Wilkerson to seal the deal. If it wasn't the high school coach it was a coach close to Wilkerson. Someone on here knows the exact story I'm sure.
I noticed Mark Fox coordinating the defense every possession during the SEC tournament, he would be standing & yelling instructions to the players. He's definitely the DC.
He had a backup that thought he was the starter until they signed Lowe, when he realized he was gonna have to earn the job he bailed.
I agree with everything you said except for the shooting part, he knew he didn't have a Brea on this team. Last year as a team they shot 37.5% from 3, this year is like 34.5%, not that big of a difference but we could space the floor better with last year's shooters to open up the cuts for Jaxson Robinson. Pope built this team more so for defense & physicality because of last year's team lacking both. I think he thought they'd shoot the 3 better than they have though. I really think he's gonna try & combine shooting & defense next year, however, that will come all from the portal because we have no high school recruits.
Cal doesn't have me fooled either, the man flat out sucks with strategy & he's even worse at drawing up plays. Opposing coaches know if you stop whatever he's doing on offense, he has no adjustments, he just figures his star freshmen will make a play & it fails more often than not. People wanna blame the whole Wisconsin game on the **** stick ref Tim Higgins, you can blame Cal more so for not telling the Harrison twins to stop shooting & to tell them to keep feeding the ball to KAT, he couldn't be stopped inside. That's all bad coaching right there, he was more worried about one of the twins being a hero again than winning the ******* game. He's an elite recruiter & a horrible in game coach.
I never thought of it that way or heard that pointed out but that is actually nuts. The only players on the team who had averaged 10+ppg in college were Oweh and Lowe. Even lottery-pick JQ scored 9.4/game, and Kam Williams coming from CUSA was 9.3/game. It reminds me of what Bruce Pearl said early in the year, about how we paid starter money to bench players.
Compare that to Pope's first season, each the following players averaged over 10ppg the previous season playing college basketball: Oweh, Robinson, Brea, Amari, Carr, Almonor, and Kriisa. And Lamont Butler averaged 9.3.
I only want about 5 of them back, Kam, Chandler, Lowe, Mo (6th man) Moreno. I have no opinion on Hawthorne because he hasn't played. Garrison plays too inconsistent & JQ can run along wherever. We need about 5 more players to go with them imo. Shooting is a must & a backup PG.
Sounds like from all the talking heads we offered everyone more money than they got else where. I still think a lot of these numbers are bogus.
Yeah KAT should have received the ball every trip down the second half, kick out for an open three if they double. He was unstoppable.
All I know is that Pope smacked Cal, Pitino, Chris Beard and Indiana squarely in the mouth this year and all the uneducated fans can do is cry about how that he can’t coach.

lol that didn’t age well for you already. Puke is ranked #1 and beat number #2 in the country without 2 starters, 1 being their pg. And that’s the point of 96% of the fan base. Before this watered down mediocrity we were considered as equal or better at basketball than Puke. Now days people are accepting 6th place in a weaker SEC.
Which I never understood that comment, did Pope tell him he wanted him to average 10pts a game and 5-6 assists. That UK wanted 5-6 guys to average double figures. His shooting numbers were great this year, we could have really used him. We might have 3-4 more wins with him.
His last school got better after he left and they celebrated him leaving. You can look in a bubble at this year and say he had some injuries or you can look at his entire career and see this is as good as he gets. I thought before this year he could coach but I gotta be honest after watching his preparation and subbing patterns and how he prepares his teams (the last 2 years) really makes me doubt he is a mediocre coach at this point.
