I know there are some who have said this other places but seriously????? What is up with him. He looks completely scared of contact? Why is he still playing if that’s the effort he’s going to give? I know we are thin but send the kid a message. I think he had great potential and is a great athlete but wow!

Bootle and Chris Jones should be the starting CB going forward. Assuming Jones is healthy. It was very clear that Urban wanted to attack our very weak tacklers on the edge with Lamar being the worst by far. He needs to find the bench until he decides he wants to hit somebody.

He shouldn't have been a starter in the first place. I guess when you threaten to transfer and the coaches give in, you see why we aren't very good.

The irony is Jackson was a 4-star #1 safety prospect out of high school and looks like he's completely lost. But Dicaprio Bootle was a 2-star recruit (until he received his token 3rd star) that no one recruited but Nebraska. However, Bootle looks very promising and is not afraid to hit. We saw that last night. I guess you win some and you lose some.

Jax is still very young however. I hope they both get more time with Donte. He's a coach I really hope a new head coach would consider keeping. Keith Williams on the other hand, may be a good recruit but his product on the field is less desirable. OK if the new staff takes or leaves him.

maybe he can recruit, but I just don't see it with Williams. Our guys play scared and look lost. Zero ball skills whatsoever which has been a common theme for the last 20 years other than a couple year break with Prince/Dennard/Gomes and co.

What is this, "attack a certain position of which you speak?"

How many db coaches have we had in the past five years. Haven't had a good one since Marvin Sanders

Who would you play here sir ,he has raw talent young as hell And if you wanna go there Chris Jones was a very similar player his freshman rear too and for the most part still shows a lack of physicality. Right now Dismuke although he isn't up to speed all the time in coverage is one of the best open field tacklers in the secondary. Last I heard coaches wants the best players on the field and right now it's Jones and Jackson The more daunting problem on this team is the total lack of athletes at LB and DE that can put pressure and close down widows for a QB like Barrett he never even broke a sweat Young and Newby Gifford and Weber talent wise have no effect on OSU offense at all. Many times on coverage Jackson had it locked down and Barrett would escape out of pocket with no threat of being attacked again and just wait for a receiver to redirect his route. Again If you can't create pressure and keep the pressure on the QB when he scrambles any corner will be caught out of coverage. And if you watch the game you will see many i plays where the coverage was so good that Barrett would run for the first or again scramble and redirect routes The lack of a kid that could run and shadow Barrett was a bigger factor in the blow out than any coverage issues. So please can we all just stop with the constant attack on Lamar. The kids playing right now are the ones most ready to play.

Our top rivals 100 recruits the past 3 years. We thought we stole or out recruited. Blades - he gone. Lamar Jackson - enough said. UCS basically said no. POB - will never contribute and should transfer. There’s to our future studs.

Nobody is getting on Lamar for his coverage. I said after watching the spring game that if Lamar Jackson was our starting CB, we were in big trouble. Here we are. He has given up multiple huge run plays this season by making one fundamental mistake: not pushing the ballcarrier inside from his outside position. Over and over and over again the same mistake.

Go pop in the tape and watch #21 specifically and watch his body language when the ball goes his way. Not good. Reminds me of my first year of organized football. Shies away from contact. Looks for a way out. NOT a football player right now. How the staff has let it come to this blows my mind. He should have been locked in tackling drills the second it was apparent that he does not like contact. You can't play football the way he does and be successful. It has to have a negative impact on his teammates that are counting on him. He is a major detriment to the team. Should jump out at opposing coaches when they watch film. Salivation.

As for who I would play: Stovall. I think I saw Kieron Williams even in there last night playing corner. ANYBODY is the answer right now. Literally anybody on the team.

When the opposition runs over 40 plays in a half at that pace and with that many extended plays, you have to play more than one set of DBs. It was all hands on deck last night and unfortunately our top 3 safeties were all out early with injuries. Singling out Lamar is just plain BS. Bootle got burned multiple times for first downs and at least one TD too. I'm really questioning what Diaco is teaching right now.

It's not just last night. This is the same fundamental assignment error over the course of the entire season. It's so bad/blatant right now, I almost want to call it point-shaving. Go watch Dobbins' TD run last night and watch #21 the whole way.

I was not attacking Lamar at all for his coverage. I just think he lacks fire to make a tackle. Every time I watch games he won’t wvwn stick his nose in to help finish a tackle. He just looks like he doesn’t want contact. I think the kid has a ton of potential and has great size! I know he is probably the most suited to play but can’t you take him out when he makes little to no effort to make a tackle and ask him what the heck he’s doing? I hope he gets it figured out and who knows? Maybe he has an injury that we don’t know about? I know others got burned last night but I also saw bootle come up and put some hits on guys. I can’t remember the last time Jackson has done that?

I think he was hurt earlier this fall. Don't know if he's dinged up or not but IMO singling out individual guys when IMO they weren't put in a position by our DC to be successful isn't the best way to go.

Ok, I’ll leave it alone. I just think he could give a little more. But that’s just my opinion from watching every game from start to finish.

I’m not going that far.... I’ll take whomever wants to come and play for Nebraska. Maybe Jackson is struggling with the new 3-4 scheme a little. Time will tell.

Someone said it... Thank you! I think the staff has let it come to this because Bob Elliott said he should be on the field. When in reality, every time I see him try to tackle the running back or bubble receiver zipping around the edge, he doesn't give a complete effort to get the job done. Then when it comes time to talk to reporters, he's all talk.

He took a terrible angle on the very first TD. I never blame the kid. The coaches have to see this on film. If they trot him out and he can't do the job then the blame is squarely on the coaches. That is coaching. Putting players in a position to succeed.

The kid is mentally weak. He can't tackle at all. Should be playing offense

That’s where he’d be playing if he went to USC. There’s a reason they werent shocked or disappointed when he chose Neb. Look at the past 3 top 100 recruits.

Probably a good idea to recruit guys that actually like to tackle. We need bad dudes out there with some swagger!

Really? I'm the complete opposite. KW at least coaches during the game and we are seeing players excel. With DW our dbs seem to have no idea what they are doing.
