Lakers May Be Done With Boogie.

I’m afraid Boogie will never be the player he once was. He suffered two injuries - ACL and Achilles’ tendon tear - that require time to properly heal. With regard to the latter, he was able to come back mid-season last year, but he looked like he had lost a step or two. As a frustrated Lakers fan, I was looking forward to seeing him play this year; however, that isn’t going to happen. I would like to see the Lakers hold onto him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they release him.

Guarantees can be voided. Antonio Brown just had $30 mil in guarantees voided for yelling at the Raiders GM. I hope Boogie gets his money, but a guarantee isn't 100% guaranteed.

Yeah, depends on what they cite for cutting him loose. "He's on a 1-yr contract and out for the whole year and we have no intention of signing him to future deals," he gets paid. "We're cutting him due to his conduct," he might be screwed.

I'm a life long UK fan and a Boogie supporter....but I wouldn't stick my neck out to defend him right now. He's a gimpy psycho and is replaceable. Not a good combo for riding out a PR storm in a storied franchise. Unless he has wisely chosen a financial advisor, he may want to consider his lifelong degree offer at UK.

It’s pretty obvious he will never be the player he once was.

I can't defend Boogie anymore.I always loved the guy but disgusting behavior from him.
he said something very wrong
however, if you haven't been through a messy breakup with kids involved, you have no idea how viscous and cruel women can be (and then using a child to "get back" at the father)...you shouldn't judge too harshly.

Did the Lakers actually say that though? Pretty sure Eric Pincus reported that it was “always on the table.”

That would be like Matt Jones saying it and it being attributed to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Id say over half, if not more of this board would have been arrested for similar charges if they had been secretly recorded during a custody battle,, divorce or break up.

I’d say you shouldn’t speak for over half of us with this. No, I can with high confidence that myself, along with most sane rational individuals would NOT say something that would get them arrested during a divorce or a break up. We get hurt, we say regretful things, but I’d like to think that the large majority of us would NOT threaten murder or domestic violence. Maybe I expect too much of people.

I don't know. Thankfully I've never been through it, but try to pry my kids away and there's no telling what might come out of my mouth. It would make me insane.

I think that's absurd and your guess is way off. It's actually really easy to be angry and argue without threatening anyone.

I can see how that would be hard for someone that it’s easy for to believe. But it’s not easy for everyone. Not everyone is taught how to argue without getting angry when they’re raised. Argueing without getting angry isn’t something standard curriculum in the public school system. It’s not even common sense. Quite the contrary actually, as it’s human nature to get mad at opposition.

Edit: I misread your post. You said it’s easy to be angry and argue without threatening someone. For some reason I read it as argue without getting made at someone. I think that’s a fair point. So nvm

For what it's worth, I absolutely agree with the point you were making. I see it every day.

You’ve never said I’ll kill you to someone ever in your life? If not, bravo to you! Because I don’t know many people

I didn't take his comments the way you did. I thought he was saying if everyone on this board had been recorded saying what Boogie said, probably over half would have already been arrested. Somehow he hasn't. I didn't think he was implying people would actually say that, but that most of us would have been arrested if we had. I thought he was speaking to the disparate treatment by law enforcement for someone famous compared to the rest of us.

That's true. But even a couple long-time live-in ex girlfriends never even pushed me close to it. Have I lost it and said ridiculous, embarrassing things? Absolutely. Just never considered threatening violence.

Maybe I'm in the minority and your 50% guess is right. It just struck me as impossible. I'd have guessed 5-10% max.

Shoot a girlfriend can part ways a million times easier than a money hungry ex wife using kids as a income tool for a desperate father. I would say most divorces without kids are pretty smooth. But you throw in children to the equation and it gets real heated real quick.

I’m not saying everyone here has or would do anything but sometimes emotions can run high and people say really regretable thigs. I know I’ve been there all jokes aside.

I'm a fan of Boogie, but I'm come to accept that the constant barrage of detractors I used to defend him against might have had a point. I remember Cal saying something about now that UK is established he can focus on getting a certain type of kid and you'll notice UK hasn't had any ...lets say volatile personalities like Boogie since. I think everyone knew the comment by Cal was specifically for Cousins and even though I know Cal loves the kid, he was a handful.

At any rate, the Lakers ,especially with Anthony Davis, knew what they were getting with Boogie. I doubt this is much of a surprise to anyone, its just a matter of will the NBA allow it if this goes further. Right now he is a low risk, potential high return player.

vindictive ex-wives/gf's and a wealthy player - never a good mix, its gonna end badly.

The woman was obviously doing whatever she could do to catch boogie and set him of, hence the recording.

I can't blame him for a heat of the moment slip. He should have been wiser and realized she was trying to do so.

But, she was using kids as hostage and thats, imo, way worse than a heat of the moment tongue lashing.
