On top of not being able to trust their numbers, you also have to take into account that they have taken extreme measures that no western country is going to take. Even if it ends up being on the worst end of likely possibilities with a couple of million deaths we won't be doing what they did. Not sure if their measures are that effective compared to western style "shutdowns", but if they are, their numbers aren't really instructive even if they are accurate.

Probably so, but there was travel from China before the lockdown to spread it to Italy and other countries. Was there no travel inside the China borders though?

I heard reports yesterday that they have simply quit testing people in and around Wuhan and are immediately incinerating the suspected bodies before they could even be counted.

It’s simply not possible to eradicate a disease this contagious in a country of 1.4 billion in just 3-4 months.
