I was very critical of Elzy during the year. The team was short handed due to poor recruiting and 1 injury.

I watched several games where there was little effort and there were rumors of some cliques on the team (don’t know if true).

Saw several inbounds situations where they couldn’t get the ball in bounds against just token pressure
Didn’t seem to have any structure

Stopped watching until they had won a few games on their current streak. Tuning back in I noticed a lot more energy especially from Howard. Seems like she was irritated that she was no longer considered the #1 pick in the draft.

Whatever happened they now look like a totally different team, not that they still don’t have trouble getting it inbounds at times.

Benton greatly improved and Edwards who was always capable just now way more consistent.

Bottom line, I’m willing to get off Elzy’s case for the moment. She has to recruit a lot better. As for coaching I’m hoping the ex-Duke coach on staff is having some influence.

As for the 6’4” girl recruit from TX at least they’ll have some height. Her team played for the 6A class title (largest class) Saturday nite but don’t know they did. Checked previous two games writeups but she was not mentioned as a contributor so maybe a project. But that’s OK. At least they know they need some bigger girls.

Sorry for the long treatise. Was a great win today. Beat the 1,2, and 3 seeds. Pretty good stuff.

Lol. Keep talking. Your defense of Cal is admirable. And please stop with the "Cal haters" bs.

I DO NOT HATE JOHN CALIPARI.

However, I do not like his putrid half court offense. If you love Cal, that's ok. Just stop the projection on others that have a different opinion than you do, that somehow makes them a hater.

Cal doesn't give a crap what either one of us think about his coaching and you shouldn't either.
buddy you can give credit to the womens coach without adding cal in it

Let's talk about her coaching.

She was amazing making adjustments in the SEC tournament, especially against UT. Heck of a bench coach.

I hope Cal was paying attention today.
Pretty awesome that they won it like that. Playing great at the right time. Hopefully they can crash a final four for Howard.

Kentucky will have Edwards(Jr.), Hunt(Soph.), Walker(Fr.) back to go with Benton, Massengill, and Green returning. I would say Elzy will go after a Couple of top transfers from the portal to go with her recruiting class. They need to look for a Top Scorer in the Transfer Portal that can come in and score like Howard has done. We know losing Howard is a huge loss but still Kentucky and Head Coach Elzy has a nice core group coming back next year. Edwards averaged 21ppg. and 10rpg. over Kentucky's 10-game winning streak. Walker and Hunt have both been playing outstanding over last 10 games. The players coming back, couple of Top Transfers from the Portal, and the Recruits coming in and Kentucky should have a good team next year.

Can you imagine going on a blind date and one of the UK women’s players show up with tattoos on their neck.

You missed the point of my post, but ok.

So, there is absolutely no need to make any of those adjustments in a men's game. Got it.
Everything you post is to throw shade at Cal. You can't even make a positive comment about the WBB team without going back to the same junk.

Its an amazing turnaround no matter how you look at it. Had all the earmarks of a program getting ready to crash. They were down so low in players I even mentioned it to my daughter about trying to play her last semeter before graduating. She gave up basketball for a soccer offer but loved basketball and could have helped out since they needed bodies period. Its just an impressive turnaround.

You are correct. It is obvious she had several discipline problems she inherited from the previous coach or from some of the new players who transferred into the program.

To her credit, she seems to have taken the right steps to right the ship and get her players playing for the team.

I hope she ends up being the greatest coach in the history of UK women's basketball, just like the legacy her mentor left at UT.

Time will tell but she coached the heck out of that team this week. Glad she is a Wildcat.
FYI…Edwards was one of those problems. She got suspended for several games during the season.

I know they got a cute little blonde coming in. Feels weird saying that.

No kidding. Most attractive we've had in a while. Maybe even better looking than Maci Morris.

You literally suggested that Cal (who has a national title, multiple final fours, is a HOFer, currently sits in the top 17 in all-time wins, top 15 in all-time winning percentage, etc) should take notes on Kyra's coaching. Making crazy statements like that will justifiably earn you some crap. Now you gotta take it.

If you don't like his half court offense, that's fair to say. Not the same statements at all. One is a fair opinion, one is silly.

The big girl from Texas apparently is a pretty big time player. Ranked 11th ranked big I think? A 4 star, we beat TN and UL I believe for her? Just trying to remember some of the stuff I read. Elzy said every time she catches it in the paint she is going to score, has great foot work. On defense she is a shot blocker and really good defender. Also runs the floor great for a big.

The 5-6 point Tyler is a 4 star but sounds like a 5 star. Great ball handler and leader that can score and shoot really well. Plays with great intensity and is aggressive and confident type. Really good defensive player and I think we beat TN and a couple of others for her.

The blond headed girl has a reputation of being a really good shooter and scorer that plays with good intensity and a hard worker. Was hurt her frosh and sophomore years I think.
