As already stated...what do you think he was going to say? If he was talking to WHAS then he'd likely give a different answer.

First of all, Kyle didn't have to say what he said. He could have left that as an equal statement and it would have been fine. He chose the wrong words.

Second of all, Kentucky fans won't like the statement. Oh wow, shocking. How dare they!!!! Here come the preachy "I'm the good fan here" posters SMDH.

Kyle's Ok but he's just wrong. What he should do is explain What He came back HERE to do an autograph tour instead of staying in Washington to do that? He knows the answer.

Let's find a halfway point between the two schools and play. The team with the most fan support wins. I think it would be UK 4 to 1.

I'm not going to trash Kyle for making these comments. He was just trying to kiss up to the Gonzaga fanbase. But what he said was 100% incorrect. It would be the equivalent of saying UofL has better football fans than Alabama. Everyone knows that's simply not true.

Wiltjer is a bit of a goofball, kinda lazy..but yeah I get why he made these comments playing up to the crowd. He could have chosen his words more wisely, but again, that goes back to the above traits I listed about him. The guy could have stayed and maybe helped UK win a title in 2013-2014 but he was afraid of competition from a bunch of incoming freshmen. He would have got run on the platoons in 2014-2015 but again as a senior, but yeah. I digress. He is what he is. I appreciate his limited role in the 2012 title run, and will leave it at that. Good luck to him in the NBA and sticking on a roster long term.

We're putting together a nice "not a Wildcat" starting five. Wiltjer at the 4, Diallo at the 2.

Give it a couple years to round out the group and let them play against King Rex and the BBN Hero-Legends.

Whoever Kyle guards will score every trip down the floor.

I really don't see anything wrong with what he said, like some have said he was talking to a local radio station and their are more Gonzaga fans there than Kentucky fans. He has to live among those people, Kentucky made him the popular guy he is now and something would be missing in his life if he hadn't of come to Kentucky first. He might be a good politician if basketball don't work out, he is still ok with me but I'm not sure if I believe what he said.

What do you expect him to say? I wouldn't expect anybody to claim differently about the school they graduated from.

I doubt see it as a slight to UK, at all.

Players from Vandy, FSU, and Colorado probably say the same after graduation.

Psst, we trash our players here. Did you miss the Hamidou Diallo threads? Sheray Thomas pays for every beer he gets in Lexington. Saul Smith is literally hated to this day. There's a lot of good with BBN but there's a ton of bad too.

Gee, let's compare:

1. Wiltjer's time at UK: Viewed as disappointing. Got frequently ripped for being a terrible defensive player, being way too slow, being out of shape, etc.

2. Wiltjer's time at Gonzaga: Viewed as a successful redemptive story. Was roundly beloved and praised by fans. Ended up reaching the NBA after those hopes had been essentially written off when he left UK.

And we're supposed to be surprised that he might now have a more favorable impression of his Zaga family?

Get thicker skin, people, not everybody who's been here need forever regard as the bestest of them all. I'm pretty sure Kyle's comments are colored by the more successful experience he had at Zaga ..and that's a quite understandable thing.

This times 10.

He transferred to gonzaga I wouldn't expect him to say any different. If he was asked about uk fans he would talk about our passion and love for the game.

No....he shouldn't. And for you to even joke about it is proof that some of our fans are irrationally blind to the true importance of basketball. I puke my guts out when we lose (yes, I'm part of the problem). But I remind myself that (like my son who played in college), we are talking about Kids. With feelings.

Kyle is a great Kid who has showered UK with love over and over. But he found his happiness at Gonzaga. Good for him.

I don't understand why people keep posting stuff about him and making him relevant to Kentucky basketball. He chose to be lazy and to leave.
