Wild, I don't follow NASCAR either but he was still active and was supposed to race this weekend from the sounds of it.

Went into the hospital with a severe illness, never left. Sad. Same age as me.
He was a very aggressive driver and didnt hold back words. So yeah, people called him an A-Hole.
It’s being reported he collapsed while using a simulator to prepare for this weekend’s race. Sad deal.
From what I heard (don't quote me), prior to coming into the pits on the last race, he asked the crew chief to have a doctor available. He thought he might have had an upper respiratory infection was the "rumor".

If accurate, I assume bacteria or toxins got through the blood-brain barrier.
