Bolin with help with experience and intelligence. Don't expect Lewis to make an impact too soon. He has SO MUCH to learn.
Gio is still my QB until proven otherwise. The board is already crowning Lewis Day 1 starter, just like they did with Odin last year.
Unfortunately the last QB who committed to Bobby P who then flipped to us didn't work out so well. Yeah, Bolin has a UoL degree, but let's hope this kid knows how to go to class.
Agreed. Simply adding a player with actual D1 game experience is actually critically important to us at the moment, given our total lack of depth at the position. But it remains to be seen how much of an impact he has.
Still, I'm excited and hopeful. With all the bad luck we've had over the past couple years, it's about time something went our way.
He is graduating in 3 years...that would indicate he is a good student and everything you read he says appear to be of the utmost character.
He is not graduating in 3 years. If he was doing that, we would have 2 years of eligibility. He tweeted that On The Banks got that wrong.
lmao off at some posters about who is better talent Bolin threw for allmost 1200 yards in 2015....we had like 70 yards passing in like 3 B10 games stretch last year..

Brandon Radcliff also ran for 117 yards for the Cardinals (5-4, 4-2), who won for the fifth time in their past six games and got above .500 for the first time this season.
"Our best team effort all year, as far as offense, defense and special teams," UofL coach Bobby Petrino said in his post-game press conference.

The numbers (including recruiting stars) point to Bolin being more talented. But, it seems to me to be a bit difficult to conclusively compare two QBs based given that they played with different supporting casts and with different competition.
Replaces Zach Allen as the #2 and has experience at the least, which is tremendous. Now let the competition begin between Gio and Zach, let Lewis learn....
Let Lewis red shirt..would have been a different story if Lewis enrolled early..but he didnt, so redshirting him would be great.
Would it matter if he goes to class? He could blow off the whole fall semester and wouldn't be suspended for grades until the season's over. He's only got one year of eligibility, right?
well that may be the case...but if he still played each of three season he would only have 1 left. and he appears to be a fine student.
I'm hoping Bolin coming will give Ash a chance to redshirt Lewis and let Gio and Kyle fight it out to be the starter , with loser as back-up.
Welcome, Mr. Bolin. It's great to have someone with your experience onboard. Here's hoping for a successful year on the Banks and afterwards.
In 2015 he came in for Lamar Jackson after Jackson had 4 turnovers, and Bolin had 157 yards passing in one quarter vs Houston who finished the season #8 in the country that year. Here are the game highlights:

That said, while Bolin is not a dual threat, he steps up in the pocket when it starts to collapse and throws lasers to his receivers. Looking forward to seeing him play and hitting Grant, Harris and Duwop in stride.
I am with you as Gio is the incumbent and knows the system and players. That being said, I think if Bolin does his due diligence, he has a very good chance to come in and supplant Gio early on. Lewis would then be best served to RS and acclimate to college life and college ball...even though I would like to see him this year on the field.
Someone asked if this means Lamar Jackson isn't coming here. Of course that's what it means. Jackson not only knows if he transferred, he would have to sit out a year, but also realizes in 2018 he would be riding the pine behind Lewis.
New OC means less advantage for Gio. I think Gio gets the nod because of his mobility. Don't think the OL play will allow a drop back passer. But this is a big get for depth. The his eliminates the wildcat if Gio gets hurt.
Sorry 230, but this kid will start from the first day on.....His freshman yr. was better than the rest our QBs combined.
If he can learn the playbook in time for game 1 there's no doubt in my mind that he starts. I'm really surprised how some posters see this kid coming here as a negative.
Behind an OL that can block in pass protection and receivers that could run routes, get open and catch the ball. This is not a knock on our receivers. The only one who has demonstrated any ability in this area is Jawuan Harris, and to some degree, Janarion Grant. Janarion was not used as a deep threat (correct me if I am wrong). That said, I am optimistic. Looking at Bolin's highlights, he has a demonstrated ability to find and hit receivers. Gio will see time too, and probably Lewis. Bolin is a huge addition.
That was my thought too...If Bolin digests the playbook and acclimates to the team well, he gets the nod.
