Those medals shouldn't exist regardless of who is POTUS or who the POTUS gives them too. It's a soft power grab. Why does the POTUS have the power to give awards to private citizens? It's ridiculous.

He gave a bunch to actors, which is shallow in general but especially when it turns out they were all enabling Weinstein. I think he gave one to DeNiro and Meryl Streep too.

The whole concept is dumb to me. It lets whoever is POTUS try to emphasize whatever part of the culture or whatever people they want. Why does a POTUS get to do this? We have a POTUS because our political system calls for a head of the executive branch to help run our political system, not so the POTUS can tell us what people in the country are better than others, especially when it comes to celebrity. Military awards are a separate issues since the POTUS is also the Commander in Chief.

The Medal of Freedom is basically the equivalent of the British OBE. It’s a who gives a **** reward here. If nothing else, I like how cheapened it’s become under Trump. All those do nothing jackass actors feeding their arrogance, oh yea? Well you and Rush Limbaugh are basically the same.
