KU opens as a 1 point favorite

I'm with the crowd that is still not sold on UK's offense. hopefully that changes with a great performance tomorrow night. Can't go by the game versus Vandy. They suck, had a couple players out and honestly, UK didn't over-achieve in winning by 16.
If we FINALLY get a good game from our shooters and Oscar then I will say we've turned the corner. But, it hasn't happened yet. There were glimpses at Rocky Top but, we still only shot 35%.
Rupp may be in rare form Sat. night. But, maybe we should pass out energy drinks to the newspaper readers in the lower arena just to be sure?

Not me, my initial guess was KU +3. Felt about right for national perception and discounting their losing streak a bit. Plus we lost at home to USC.

Hmmm. I actually thought UK would be -2. I guess Vegas is still in a “show me” mood when it comes to the Cats.

Can you blame them? We have about 6-7 games where we were favorites it felt like and either got blown out or were way off the spreads against good teams.

They are really solid just not deep. Classic team that foul trouble to 2 key players will probably end them or if Dick isn’t a superb sidekick most games.

Yes... you get about 3.5. So that means we are getting 3.5 playing at home, but if we played at KU, they would get 3.5. 3.5 - (-3.5) = 7. So a 7 point swing is correct.

If I was impartial gambler I would be all over Kansas. Kansas probably wants a little payback for last year and need to stop a possible record setting losing streak. Cats looked good against Vandy and moved the ball really well but it was Vandy. 2 weeks ago the line would be double digits easy. I hope the Cats get the victory as it would be a major step in the evolution of this team.

I have a bad feeling about tomorrow. Everything is setting up too good and usually when that happens it goes the other way. Kentucky won at Kansas by 19 last year as a 6 point dog when most people didn't give them much of a chance to win. 2 weeks and 3 days ago Kentucky was losing to South Carolina at home and Kansas was 15-1 and everyone assumed Kansas would blow Kentucky out and Kentucky would been like a 9 point dog at home.
2 weeks and 3 days later Kentucky wins 4 in a row including impressive win at Tennessee and Kansas loses 3 in a row including getting smashed at home by TCU and everyone is thinking Kentucky is going to win tomorrow.
This makes me think a huge letdown is going to happen and Kansas is going to walk out with a win tomorrow and people will be back to posting for Cal's job.

There was a thread from a guy coming to Rupp for the first time and it being the KU game.

Got a lot of consolation replies saying he would enjoy it no matter the outcome. Posted that KU wasn’t all that and that theCats could hang with them. Got a lot of lols from that. Guess we’ll see.

Cats will have to shoot poorly to not compete in this game. Could happen. KU good defensively.

Agreed RM .. I think the crowd makes the difference in this one , roaring behind our guys to a Ky win . After the battles we have won -- overcoming a disastrous loss to SC , and a couple other other very bad ones , this team has righted the course .. but it could all be for naught if we dont start winning big games ( yes I recall UT ). I mean winning more than 2-3 big games outta 10 . Huge huge game tomorrow pm !

I think this game will tell us exactly who we are. The UT game was big- the rest of the wins weren't surprising. We lose to Kansas (to go along with the other losses) and we just aren't a Top 20 level team. I believe we have a great opportunity to win the game- probably by less than 5 points- IF Oscar and Reeves play to their averages and Toppin/Frederick/Wallace all provide decent production and play good defense. Oh- and we hit our free throws. I am still on the fence about this team. Not really sure we are that good.

Good. Glad they're the favorite. As a UK player, at home, that betting line would piss me off royally. I hope our guys know that and take note. We've had a nice little run after some improvements, but our guys have to have an edge and an attitude if they want to win this huge game. Also at work is that the team who now has the most wins does ot come into our house and win, period.
