Wasn't Illinois sure their coaches were staying too while we were getting little winks and nods for weeks in advance?

This feels a lot like that.

I mean, our biggest radio show by miles had one of the hosts and founders telling us a player broke his damn leg yesterday. So I'll take what radio insider guy says with a grain of salt.

There are a lot of Illinois people here in STL and they are all saying he is returning to Illinois

Hmmm would seem strange to set an announcement date then go back to the school you’re at. But also I can see him having some corny post about how he started it there and is loyal.

Just can't see it being UK. Players now entering transfer portal, scheduling an announcement, all to return to their original school. Wild times.

Really hope I am wrong, obviously.

I'm trying to remain optimistic, but I don't feel good about the situation given he didn't even visit us. I'm still hopeful though!

I’m with you. Really don’t see it being us. Would love it though.

They just released all the players jersey numbers for next year on twitter. If he was coming, they would’ve waited.

I just don't think seeing the campus changes anything in his mind.

He says he went to Illinois because of Coach O. Coach O left.
He wants to improve his NBA chances. No one does that like UK.

I assume he knew what he was going to do all along and wasn't super worried. Some others have pointed out they had a zoom meeting and I'm sure they showed him a lot of the facilities.

I'm assuming the kid that runs the UK Twitter was asked to Tweet it out a few days ago.
I highly doubt anyone was going to say "Hold up, we may be getting someone else and we don't want to have to send another tweet with his number."

Cockburn did visit Kentucky right out of high school IIRC. Or at the very least he set up a visit, whether he actually made it to campus I don't know. But I definitely remember hearing that he was going to visit Lexington when we were recruiting him the first time.

Sounds like the type of source one would want to quote in a thread where everyone else is optimistic.

Thanks for that. You're one of my favorites...

I’m just sharing what was on the radio here in a major Illinois market. I offered no opinion on it as I have to clue. But, you keep doing you

Not visiting UK means absolutely nothing at this stage. My man doesn’t care what the campus looks like.
The main reason to visit is to see if you vibe with the team and staff.
He already knows he’s good there.

I think the only logical option is UK. There’s no reason to open it up and decide so quickly. I think it’s always been UK once O and Chin left.

Kofi wants to be a pro, the NIL is more favorable at UK, there’s a good chance of winning here, the reason he went to illinois is at UK, and playing at UK is better for future prospects all around.

It’s just an easy decision. If cal can’t lock this one up and continues to lose recruits to Memphis I’m not sure what to think at this point.

From an NIL perspective, UK>>>>>Illinois
From a national exposure perspective, UK>>>Illinois
Coaching perspective (he loves Antigua and Chin) UK>>>>Illinois
NBA preparedness UK>>>>>>Illinois

Playing time UK<Illinois

Four to one. I like our odds.

I've felt optimistic/borderline confident. But we've had so many "done deals"the last couple of years. I'll feel good when he says it's UK.
I'm normally like that, too. On this one, though, I think it's been done for awhile. Antigua is the draw. Or so it sounds.

So we're adding a potential 1st Team All-American, the leader in SEC assists, a first team Atlantic 10 player, two top 12 recruits, the best shooter in the Big 10, the best minute-for-minute Big 12 rebounder, while returning two starters and returning five players overall, including our best two shooters?

I kinda like that scenario.
I hope like hell they all gel and we field a dominant team. On paper, with Kofi, it sure looks better.

I also think Illinois is unranked in the preseason, while UK is top 15 in most polls.

That should weigh in his decision as well.
