Not versatile? I suppose running the point, spotting up for jumpers, driving, posting, rebounding, and guarding multiple positions shows a lack of versatility.

Efficient? I mean, he didn't set efficiency records, but he was efficient when he wanted to be.

He was usually effective, and always relentless.

Selfish? Definitely was at times. But he figured it out enough to win 5 titles. Must have been a good teammate when it counted most.

Kobe was also hurt the last couple of years. He tore his achilles three years ago and dealt with all sorts of injuries which kept him out basically all of 2013-2014 and half of last season. I don't think anybody was expecting him to be very good this year being older and coming off serious injury issues.

You do realize that the reason it wasn't technically "proven" is that Kobe paid the girl off with an undisclosed settlement amount of money (which I can guarantee you was outlandishly large) to get her to shut up and drop the whole thing, right?

I'm sorry, but I no longer have much sympathy for the "not proven" view in the cases where the way the accused deals with it is to de facto bribe the accuser with a million dollar paycheck to shut up and make it go away. If you deal with it that way, then I think it's fair for others to assume you were probably guilty.

If you actually want to understand what happened in Colorado, read the transcript of his interview with the police. It can be found online easily enough. Here's the brief version of the "best case scenario" for Kobe.

He picked up a girl.
He had sex with her.
He requested to complete the process on her person in a way that offended her. She refused.
He may or may not have tried to do it anyway.
He admitted to having a regular woman on the side in LA who was ok with his preferred method of finishing.
He was at least as worried about his endorsements as he was his wife and daughter.

I personally do not think he raped her, but the whole situation is pretty sordid. He was a great player but far from a class act. (Of course, that characteristic is not unique to him among the all time NBA greats.)

I don't know what happened on that night. What I do know that happened is that Kobe Bryant in his 20 year career did enough that he will go down as one of the 25 greatest players in the history of the game.
