I had a ton of respect for the Spurs and still do. Except for Wembanyama. The way he ended the OKC series and his dirty play in the Knick series...I will always wish him nothing but the worst on the court. He was protected by the refs/NBA the entire series and last night he tried to break Brunson's ankle by sliding his foot under Brunson on his jump shot. Guess if you can't beat em, you try to injure em.
The next person who whines how the nba wants a NYC champ has to watch this series. 2 obvious techs not called on W fouling Brunson. Hard for me to understand how this happened. Now, i dont think he tried to break an ankle, but he deserved a T and he didnt help his rep.

I was so happy to hear Kenny Anderson say they need to redo the way W is used in the offense, like play him closer to the bucket.

Is tge T suspension rule only for the playoffs? I think it is dumb.

Issue for Knicks is the apron and while the starting 5 is contractually obligated for next season how to maintain around that will be tricky. They have pick 24 coming up so smaller automated salary at scale plus 31 and 55.

Starting 5 salary goes up approx 20 mil.
Kind of need to figure out front court depth and guards/defense 3pt shooting.

During the regular season when the Knicks struggled against the elite teams I told Hallrox I couldn't understand what they were doing. I truly believed they had as much talent as any team in the league but weren't showing it.

Guess they didn't give it their all in the regular season and we saw what they were capable of doing when they did.

Shout out to Tibbs for preparing the roster for what they would eventually do. But they needed Brown to take those final steps.

Dick, sprain his ankle or break it, his intention was clear. Watch the slow motion replay. He made a very conscious effort to put his foot under Brunson to injure him and possible end his play in the series.

Dont agree

Watch Wembanyama's eyes as he looks down to ensure his foot is under Brunson's. We may disagree but no one will ever convince me that was not done with intention. Anyone playing BB knows when an opponent is trying to injure you and you saw Brunson's reaction.

And remember, in a previous game he grabbed Brunson and knocked him to the floor hard. And in the OKC game when he threw an elbow and got kicked out of the game.

One might be unintentional. Two not so much. Three is clearly a pattern.

The ODDS of the Spurs losing the NBA Finals 4-1, when taking into account the following sequences:

- They held a double digit lead in all 5 games
- Held the lead at some point in the last 2 minutes of every game
- Blew a 29 point half time lead + 20 point 4th Q lead

Are ~1 in 250,000. Virtually impossible odds.

*This is using a high P value (early leads in some games), which actually lowered the odds.

I believe I also heard that the Spurs had a double digit lead in the 1st quarter of every single game.

I remember vividly the championships in 69 and 73. I went to some of those playoff games. But I was young and despite loving what I saw it is nothing like I felt last night. 53 years will do that to someone.

What da ya think?

1. Frazier
2. Ewing
3. Brunson
4. King
5. Reed
Great topic. What do you guys believe?

By all-time on court achievement it is Ewing Frazier Reed Bradley Monroe Houston Starks Anthony Brunson...

Look at the Zeke years he acquired significant talent and they were dog teams

Marbury didn't work out Crawford was exciting but always wanted to shoot 3s

Penny Hardaway came with no legs
Tmac came with no legs

Woodson best season was when they had all the vets Come in and then had a horrible series vs Pacers

Brunson gonna get extended and finish career a knick

I would go

1. Abdul-Jabbar
2. Bryant
3. Johnson
4. O'neal
5. West

With apologies to James, Chamberlain, Baylor, Mikan and Worthy.

Now that's a top 10.

Magic, Kareem, Kobe, Shaq, Jerry, all tied for first. I should probably add Mikan
1- Kareem and 2- West were my favorites. If they (and magic) didnt have to play great Celt teams, they all win a few more. Then
3 - magic
4 - Kobe
5- Shaq I guess.o

West was my hero. He has to play the great Celt teams, Russ retires, and that has to be the one time the damned Knicks were great lol.

When guys like Chamberlain, James and Baylor can't crack the top 5 that's just ridiculous.

I have Kareem 1, Magic 2 and 3-5 I think you could argue for each of them.

I hated (with respect) Brunson when he played for Nova. I feared him as much as any opposing player short of Ewing. Whatever had to be done to beat the Hall he did it.

In short he was a winner every single place where he played. A 5 star player who eventually was a college national POY.

I was shocked that he was only a second round NBA pick. Sometimes you have to look past just the physical and concentrate on the other aspect of the player.

But with all that said he is not the greatest Knick of all time. Maybe eventually but not after just 4 years. Ewing and Frazier spent a lifetime as Knicks' superstars. And their accomplishments are unprecedented. Too much recent bias involved here led by Perkins of ESPN. Just because he shouts the loudest on his grand platform doesn't make it so. That said I loved his debate with Becky Hammons who for years has come on ESPN and said you can't win it all with a player like Brunson as your go to leader. Same with the Golden State's Draymond Green.

Brunson just made both eat crow, but he did so in a humble way. Not with his mouth but with his play.
