Yeah, He was a senior last year. He had 3 offers from different schools. Not sure where he is going.
Speaking of KM football, have heard various bits of info on new playing surface. Some say not ready, a few say no problem. Something about underground spring under current field. Anything??
They ran into some issues with replacing a pipe under the field that carried a creek under the field. This put them 6 weeks behind. The project manager said that the earliest the field will be ready is late September. They will be playing their first 3 homes games at the old city stadium beside the grave yard.
I heard KM72 was down on the field belly-aching about the job not being done right and pestering folks. That’s why the turf crew is six weeks behind.
Coach Lloyd has a good track record with turning out quality quarterbacks but this is by far the biggest question mark for KM going into this season. I will say what I always say, hopefully the qb "earns" the job with his play/performance/practice and not have it given to him. KM has produced a string of really good quarterbacks in Roberts, Harris, Clark, and Wade. I am a little nervous about the qb position this year..
Lloyd's offenses have tended to be qb driven and pretty balanced. You have a new qb from outside Lloyd's system which definitely impact how much of the offense you can put in and how plays are called by the play caller. You have a team that is championship caliber but it's full potential may not be reached if the qb doesn't progress as quickly as this team needs. Quarterbacks are the leaders of the teams and that is earned not given. The qb and coach have alot on their plates to digest in a short time frame.
I agree with you that Coach Lloyd does a great job coaching up QB’s and he seems to be good at tailoring his system to fit his QBs skill set. What would lead you to question whether or not he would make whoever is the signal caller “earn” that position through play/performance/practice?
I’m just curious because that list of quality QBs that you mentioned probably wouldn’t have been as extensive or successful had they not been required to “earn” it. You seem to be pretty knowledgeable of the program, so can you think of a time that a better QB was on a KM roster and Lloyd not start him? That’s a rhetorical question. Why would he start now? Just my humble opinion which isn’t worth much.
Fair question. It’s because he is being called the starter before he has the opportunity to put the pads on and make plays. In your opinion how do you see the new guy stacking up to the other KM qb’s at the same exact stage of their player development? Qb skill set wise?

At the same exact stage? One is a Junior with all the physical tools you want in an elite QB. The other is a senior that is athletic. I think there is more to it than just the QB position. Can one of them help you at another position? I'm pretty sure no one is being called a starter by anyone on that staff. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure it is open competition as every position.
I've always been of the mindset that if you have two guys that are even, you always go with the younger guy. Just my opinion.
You misunderstood my question. My question is comparison to the four previous qb’s that I mentioned earlier when they were at a similar stage.
Of the 4 you mentioned, I’d say he most closely resembles Harris. Bigger than Harris but closer to him than the other 3.
