Yeah but KJ Jefferson got to play against Ole Miss’ defense. I bet I could throw for at least 100 yards on those guys.
Whoever the color guy was today was giving Matt his vote already 5 weeks into the season. He was telling stories about Coral's character and leadership while the cameras went back and forth between Coral and Joey.
It's like that for every televised game at Oxford. If they aren't fapping over UM's Heisman candidate for that year, they are fapping over Oxford/UM and how it's "TeH GreATeST tHiNg EvAR!!!" I'm convinced UM pays these announcers a commission every time they diddle the egos of their fans.

Corral has been the weakest QB on the field two weeks in a row. He was 14/21 passing yesterday and if you only include passes with a defender within 20 yards of the receiver he was 11/18.

He looked pretty good in person yesterday. He knew when to pull it down and run and made several great downfield throws, most of which were defended well. Don't understand the Corral hate. He's a good QB.
He's a better runner this year and he has a good arm. I think they may be trying to make ole miss seem like QBU so the Manning grandson will be drawn to the QB worship already in place.

Yes, it’s definitely a recruiting ploy to try and get your QB to play well. That’s a perfectly rational train of thought.
It's all the press and focus on him by the media. That's pushed by the OM media department. Intentionally.
A couple things, if you will allow it - 1) I don’t think it’s really being pushed that hard by Ole Miss. Not any more than normal for a school’s star QB, at least. In fact, Kiffin has not allowed the Ole Miss marketing department to put out any “Corral for Heisman” material, because he said he doesn’t want the distraction, and neither does Corral. But a school highlighting their QB, particularly when he’s good, is pretty normal, no?
2) on the media hype.. when you watch a game between 2 teams, those 2 teams players are typically going to be highlighted. Especially when one of them leads the nation in total offense. MSU games usually had a lot of Dak attention. And you would certainly hope the MSU marketing department helped with that, right?
But, to the original point at hand - I just don’t see any rational connection between Ole Miss wanting Corral to be highlighted and play well because of Arch Manning? Pretty sure if Arch had been XX instead of XY and was a star softball player, Kiffin and Lebby would still want their QB to play well and get attention as one of the best in the country. (I may need to go to sensitivity training for assuming Arch’s gender, as well)

I kinda like Matt Corral. He’s fun to watch, and I don’t get what’s so hateable about him. There have been way more douchy, less talented Ole Miss quarterbacks (see Chad Kelly).

Just saw a replay of the two point attempt by UPig from someone sitting in the end zone. .Jefferson could have walked into the end zone if he went off tackle. Don’t know why a pass was called
Looked like he was supposed to run it. He had 4 linemen that were downfield, thus the penalty that was declined. The only time ole miss stopped them the second half was on a busted play.
If he was supposed to run that and chose to throw he should get the private Pyle soap in pillow case treatment from the rest of the team.

Dak got a ton of love, especially after the LSU and Auburn games where y’all catapulted to #1. And deservedly so. And I bet Ole Miss fans were griping about it saying he was getting way too much hype, because that’s what this rivalry does to grown men.
If he was supposed to run that is a bizzare play design they flooded every receiver that way and cut the field into a third (the same third they brought every defender to) while the OLine never pulled or shifted to the right. It looked like the perfect TE throwback play just without the TE running to the other side.
It was supposed to be a shovel pass to the RB but the LT failed on his blocking assignment and the DE got in the way so Jefferson had to scramble and try to find someone else to throw to. Probably should have just tried to run it in but ran out of time once he started looking for a receiver.
That’s interesting. I’d not heard that but it makes a lot of sense. Because it definitely looked like a busted play. Obviously I’m tickled with how it worked out, but think Pittman 100% made the right call. He’s a good coach. I expected him to look a lot like Matt Luke on the sidelines, and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. He’s composed and decisive. He’s doing a great job. I like him a lot.
The best part was Greg McElroy praising Corral for “starting” the fight in the 2018 Egg Bowl. As if Braxton Hoyette didn’t save Corral’s life that night after Jamal ripped his helmet off.
