KJ Costello is a QB prospect in the 2021 draft class. He scored a 1.14 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 719 out of 810 QB from 1987 to 2021. https://t.co/Gm8V9hV1EM #RAS pic.twitter.com/tHaXXWl8zv— Kent Lee Platte (@MathBomb) March 29, 2021

Doesn't look like he tested well athletically though. He still may be a 7th round pick

Pretty sure he was just hoping not to throw a pick. And I would also bet he would be ecstatic to be a 7th round pick. I hope he makes it or at least gets a training camp invite or something.

Anyone ever get a story if he got hurt in that LSU game - he was incredible that day amd never looked the same after it, even for a series

Just looked to me that he was great against LSU's man defense, but the next week they rushed 8 and dropped 3 and he couldn't figure it out. Kept thinking he was Brett Favre and had the arm to force throws that he couldn't make.

I think there's some merit to the injury angle. I believe he had some issues with concussions before he got here, too.

I hated the turnovers, but I liked the fact Costello constantly tried to push the ball upfield. He didn't want to be a dink and dunk qb. I respect that.

Pretty sure he hurt his shoulder late 3rd quarter early 4th quarter vs LSU and never fully recovered from it. He was great vs LSU. Period.

Shavers? He opted out....is he a transfer or graduate or what!? I can’t remember his final destination.

Think he opted out to avoid a Moultrie knee situation.
I didn't understand that. Was he going to get Moutrie knee for teh entire season and that would impact his ability to transfer or somethign? Why not sit through a suspension and take the extra playing time?

I love the dude and wish him the best.

But I've noticed something in his throwing motion since I started watchhing his stanford videos when the transfer was announced. Has anyone else noticed something odd with his plant foot? Its almost as if he's not using it to push off and create movement in his hips and upper body but that its just trailing behind the motion initiated by his hips. I'm not really trying to make a coaching point because i'm not a coach, just seeing if anyone else can offer some insight.

Edit to clarify: It doesn't seem like he's stepping into his throws.

My understanding is that Leach has a zero tolerance policy for that sort of thing, so he was gonna miss the rest of the season either way. The opt-out allowed him to save face a little bit. No idea if he’s playing next year anywhere or if he’s just gonna try his hand at the draft.

ETA: Just saw that he transferred to SDSU, and still has 2 years of eligibility left since everybody got the extra COVID year. Either Shavers or Leach (or both) must have felt that he wore out his welcome here.

Leach has an very strict policy on Moultrie Knee.
Leach presented the committee with three rules he has for all players: no drugs, no stealing, and no assaulting women,
I think he has softened his stance to allow transfers, instead of just booting them from the team. But either way they are gone.

His 2018 passing stats at practically identical to Justin Herbert’s 2019 stats at Oregon against the same competition. Sure did seem like he was going to be above average, at worst. It just goes to show how important reps are in the Air Raid. Even at the high school level, it shows how much that experience matters when you saw the maturation of Rogers over the second half of the season.

You'd think a pirate that lives in Key West wouldn't be so cutthroat strict on the lettuce partaking
