I like the premise of your post OP. That said, it’s the internet. You gotta lower your expectations.
I encourage everyone to visit other sports message boards and see how their fans deal with terrible coaches/bad seasons. They are often times worse than we are. Don't believe me? Go check out Pale Hose Sox or any number of message boards for franchises that currently are garbage. This thread shows how myopic BBN actually is when it comes to attempting to correct online behavior.
This message board would be infinitely "kind" if Pope actually did the job he was paid to do: which is to win basketball games.

Of course the first “attack” in this thread is Popes best slurper. Just the thought that someone might say something bad about him triggered him. I saw someone in this thread say we should ask questions so I’ll take a shot, what is it about being 1 game away both years from playing on Wednesday of the SEC tournament makes you worship Pope so much?
That is one reason I give a loss time to marinate rather than fly off the handle.
Also that is one reason I do not go back and forth with posters. I give my opinion and move on. I am not going to convince anyone to change their mind.

Have you ever been to that old restaurant Dicks Last Resort? I don’t know if they are still around anymore, but they start off by putting a paper hat on your head with an insult “this guy has a small peepee!” Or whatever and then the servers are really rude and roast you the whole time. People got a kick out of it and I always enjoyed it even though the food was pretty average. Anyway, as someone that has been on some variation of catspause since 2001 (wow) that’s really how you have to view this place. Like a 24/7 roast. I actually don’t think it’s possible for me to be offended on here even if I tried, because I just don’t take it that seriously. You can’t really, for most it’s just an escape. I saw the UK4Life guy mentioned earlier. He was posting a week ago or so calling other people idiots so I asked him what he does for a living. I don’t actually care what he does for a living, it’s just a pro move MB trick I’ve learned over the years that makes the poster stop and slightly snap back into reality and calms them down, like smoke on a bee. In a shocking twist he actually answered and said he was a nurse. You know what that guy deals with? **** hours, obnoxious patients, ahole doctors, stress etc. Go ahead and call people idiots my man! Also, because Ive been on these things for so long, I’m extremely good at instantly recognizing trolls and my ignore list is probably 50 posters deep, I will say that is key for my enjoyment and something that’s probably more unique to me.

But so are Eagles fans, Yankees fans, Cowboys fans, Alabama fans, etc etc. We’re all nuts, let’s not be too hard on the fan base, and let’s get back to everybody hating us instead of us all annoyed and hating each other.

I don’t know every single person’s full post history and you can certainly find posts from me, from you, or most anyone else that aren’t perfect. Especially when your opinion is held by 99% of the posters, if y’all can’t just be reasonable and kind to the people who disagree with that majority opinion, you’ll 1.) not have an interlocutor to have debate with, 2.) not get your opinions questioned to strengthen your own arguments, 3.) eventually discourage everyone from posting who doesn’t hold to the “groupthink.” I actually enjoy the company of this board and I want everyone to be able to raise their opinions here, as long as they aren’t disgraceful or morally impermissible. I agree. And that's why we get along so good, even though we often disagree. I appreciate that you stand on what you believe. I'm also not a Cal hater --- but he doesn't align with some of my basketball preferences. I still love the enigmatic personality and attitude of Coach Calipari to this day.
Ryan Day has been enormously successful at OSU. When they lost to UM a couple of years ago he had to get police protection at his house. I think of that when people mention our fans may be hurting recruiting. OSU is doing better than fine.
Both sides of the coin do it. The Pope Pumpers started it and I finished it. Should I have made that thread? Some say yes, some say no. I have been attacked by UKCowboys and Nitro for not being a UK fan because I don't think Pope deserves a third year. They have harassed and also done that to others.
So I called out their hypocrisy and behavior for accountability. The thread wasn't about them disagreeing with me, but the fact that we are not Pope fans and want him gone, therefore, somehow we are not Uk fans. Yet they complain the same way most of us do.
There are only 2 rules. 1. Love God. 2 Love your neighbor.

I think you're right about that. Both sides are guilty of it. Hopefully the post would make some of us question whether that's the way to do it. Nothing like a ruthless debate. Each side declaring the other enemies of the program, however, is unnecessary.
A thread once asked who is UK's main rival. When I said Louisville, the OP called me an idiot and a moron. So the OP asked a question and chose to act like a child. I don't know why that happens or why on the old board posters got weirdly personal about Matt Jones or would blame his radio show for UK losses. I don't know why Bronny James was constantly called a thug on Rafters when he's never been in trouble and none of us knew much about him. Easy to say "that's the internet" when those are choices but...that's the internet and people choose to be like that. I've always believed if you constantly act like a jerk online, your real life probably isn't going well and if you're saying ridiculous things on social media, it's because you know your significant other would slap you across the back of the head if you acted that same way around her or him.
Regardless, I never understood getting bogged down in coaching debates. Last year was fun at times and this year hasn't worked. If we're bounced in the first weekend and next year is similar results, there'll probably be a coaching search. If we claw to another Sweet 16 and this time next year we've got say, 6-8 losses, he's probably getting a year four. Everything else is just noise.

Attack the ideas. Not the person. That's how debates are supposed to be. Both sides are valid in their opinions if Pope should or should not get a 3rd year. The problem was when someone attacks someone's character and consistently call them not a true UK fan. That doesn't help move the conversation. Insults are a result of people with no argument.

I agree that most of the venom posted here is not even because of Pope, it's because of other things in life. That makes it even more disgraceful to go after Pope because a person can't pay their bills, the barber accidently cut off their mullet while they are asleep, their Pot dealer quit, they are a hopeless gambler that's deep in the hole, etc.

I disapprove of all those types of "educational experts". Zero depth and just in it to make a crap ton of money selling their latest gimmick. If they were truly in it for the reasons they spout, their resources and lectures would be free and they wouldn't charge public schools thousands upon thousands of dollars for appearances and book deals. They are the scourge of public education, IMHO.
Man I really don’t get it. It’s like people haven’t interacted with other fanbases. Actually, Kentucky has a tame fanbase compared to a lot of other programs. Tennessee and Auburn? They are absolutely insane. Alabama fans? LSU? Texas? I really don’t think a lot of people venture past Kentucky fans. Growing up in Tennessee, this fan base is easy street compared. I mean some of those fans RIOTED when they didn’t like a hire. Recycle AD’s because of the fans. Kentucky allowed Mitch Barnhart to be employed a quarter of a century. It’s all the proof you need that UK fans are actually quite tame compared.

If you read my earlier post the joke went over his head (naturally). Also I dont remember our interaction but I’m sure it was great my big blue brother. One thing on the internet I’ve found is people have a really hard time not getting the last word in. But it’s actually much more effective to say a good line and then just stop responding. Imagine two guys arguing with each other in real life, and then one guy says a good line or rebuttal and then walks away confidently or smirking while the other guy all red in the face is shouting back. The guy still shouting looks like an idiot most of the time. That’s why it’s nice to do that on the internet, say your piece and then confidently walk away while the other guy is just rambling on to himself. No need for an emoji or anything.
