I don't think you can be that simplistic there to compare.

2013 we were playing in the American with SOS of 83rd and finished the season losing to ND going 2-6 last 8 games.

2014 we were playing year 1 in the Big 10 East with SOS of 43n and crushed UNC in Detroit going 4-4 final 8 games.

Nova's QB rating jumped from 120 to 140 something and his TD to Int went from like 18-14 to 22-12 (or something like that). Yeah Nova was a senior but what Fridge did with him was significant.
The only way to measure an offense is points scored. Id buy the strength of schedule argument but senior QBs improve. The same thing happened with Teels TD/INT ratio in his sr year. I wouldve expected the overall offense to score more points, their primary job. They didnt.

If you wanna say, we continued our mediocre or below average point scoring offense despite the tougher schedule, id buy that. But people talk about Fridge as though he came in here and lit it up. He was only good after you correct for this and that.

Give Kill a senior Nova and we may all be praising him too.

I don't agree on your first point because sustaining drives while not scoring (our MO of latest years) as frustrating as it is..still benefits your D.

I do agree on point #2. But that's part of what folks are frustrated about. If the QB play is killing Kill's offense..give Gio some opportunities. Having a QB who can run could certainly help Kill's offense.

Not the whole picture with Friedgen. He actually made Nova a better QB by teaching him to read defenses and fixing his mechanics. His improvement wasn't the magic result of just being a senior.

Look at the formations we use. The different personnel packages. The pre-shift motion. The clustered receivers. Pistol sets. There's a lot to like here. If he had Nova/Carroo he'd be making chicken soup.
Agree with this post completely
