I have a feeling though if he caught it on the bounce and was hit then fumbled it was still would've been a fumble in their eyes.

That’s something I don’t even think you can do on a kickoff. Otherwise, why wouldn’t you just wave the arm as soon as an onside kick hits the ground and never give the kicking team a chance at it?

I agree. If he made no attempt to catch the ball and KY covered I guarantee they would’ve awarded it to KY.

I think if you advance the ball after making a fair catch it is a penalty. He was actually calling his blockers over but his arm went over his shoulder pads.

I have never seen anything like it in my life. His arms were churning while he was running and may have extended upwards a bit but that's not what a fair catch signal is. Just sticking your arm up doesn't count. You have to raise your arm over your head and do a crossing motion. I think replay has made the refs stupid/lazy. The number of ****** calls, a rare few of which we've benefited from, is inexcusable and there needs to be accountability.

I had never seen it on a kickoff until last weekend, can’t remember if it was college or pro. Seems it was the SNF game, waved for fair catch at around the 15, ball was placed at 25.

^^^ he had to adjust slightly while in full stride after the ball bounced. That’s why his arm went up.

But i think the fair catch rule is that any movement above the shoulders counts as a fair catch signal.

How can you even have a fair catch if the ball hits the ground? There's no such thing. And, as you point out in your other post in the thread, he never signaled for a fair catch in the first place. He was trying to grab the damn football.
